    Howdy Z-Folk,

I'm starting to think that my steering woes are being caused by sagging front springs. So my questions are:

    1.
What is the expanded length of stock front springs, i.e. brand new front Z springs, sitting on the bench unloaded, what is the length?

    2.
Any ideas on the price of 2 new springs?

    Cheers for any help,
    M

    Springs aren't expensive.

I paid $300 for mine (set of 4), but you can get cheaper.

Check out King Springs on the Gold Coast

They supply a lot of springs to the top teams in Group A
and can supply just about any spring for any vehicle and also give you the choice of different ride heights.

    King Springs gave different figures...

...the guys down there told me 330mm all round (free length). Odd. I think they only deal in after-market gear though.

I've just found my Z manual and it says 370 front and 380 rear. Hmmm...

Time to pull them off for a closer look I think.

Well I have standard Zed springs in the garage...

When I get a chance I'll measure them for you, but they would have compressed (sagged) a little.

Not sure if that will help...

    Hey, XRated.
I'm not sure if that will help me. I think mine are already sagged, perhaps differently on each side, and that's what is causing the car to steer like it's drunk.

So I need length figures for brand new springs to compare mine too.

    Cheers though.

Have you done any measuring of spring height

while still on the car. is it possible that one shock has died?

    Cheers, Dean

That did occur to me, and measurements came up...

...being a few mm's difference. I'm not sure that would cause the problems I'm having though.

Having said that, they appear to be the stock springs and shocks, although my cambre is way out of factory specs. It's possible that both springs have sagged and need replacing.

Hence my need for unloaded length, etc. Regardless, I'll pull them off and get them load tested over the weekend and see if they measure.
