Okay so the results without installing the NIstune chip were 220RWKW @ 12PSI. will be placing the Nistune for sale soon so if your interested keep your eyes out, want what i paid for it which was $200.00. Mods were as follows: GSP SMIC Greddy Piggy Back E Manage Blue 3" Single Cat Back HKS Exhaust Blitz Dual SBC Running on 100 Octane Trent from Chequered Perfrmance thinks if i install Nistune (need OBD2 Chip) i could get another 10% in power gains.
Thanks Emile. From yours and others with similar spec, it sounds like my car is about 20kw lower than it "should" be. I suspect this is not severe enough to be a cam timing problem for me, more like exhaust/injectors/base timing. At least now I have a plan of attack
I got 236.2kw.& 590n.torque on 13psi with NISTune ,standard injectors ,pop air filter ,manual transmission and 2.5 inch. duel cat back exhaust.
Yeah same spec as my car but about 20kw high and with no pinging. This is where I need to be. It's far from the end of the world, but I'd still like to know what the cause is. Will be purchasing a compression tester and timing light today.
A-Bris, where are you in Syd? I'm planning to do compression, leak down, timing checks etc on mine on the weekend. Let me know if you want to drop around on (probably) Sat, extra pair of hands might come in handy and saves you having to buy the gear edit, I'm in Dundas Valley.
Running way too rich to be honest, it was dipping into the 10AFR range on low boost. 11.2AFR is a bit rich but on the safe side.
PM coming. I'm in North Balgowlah. I'm out for Saturday I'm afraid. I've ordered the tools but would be more prefer to share the pain
Exhaust Photos Here are some photo's of my exhaust system. There is a dent in one of the test pipes, but I can't imagine that would make any difference. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3k3ttyo0jjqiro9/0Pp-FMcU_z
New Information Got some time to play around a bit with the car this morning. New compression tester was a complete failure.....wouldn't hold pressure so haven't got anything there, but the new timing light was useful. Turns out the car has a base timing set at 20. The question is now, should I just adjust it back to 15? What effect will this have on the current tune? Am I better to leave it where it is until I get a new tune? Edit: Also, do auto and manual have the same base timing?
Back the timing off to 15 it will lower the whole map by 5 degrees. I would get a retune tbh. It will be safer at 15 as there is less chance of detonation.
Nem the tune is just a generic "chip" type, it wasn't tuned for that car with the timing set to 20. The ECU should be mapped for 15 degrees base timing. I'd drop it back to 15, sorta explains the pinging....
Dave at UAS backed the boost off so that the car wouldn't detonate so that's not really a problem at the moment. Car was pinging at 215kw so I was checking timing to work out why. It seems to be ok on lower boost and was making 190-200kw which is where we left it.
Dave made a few adjustments to the tune at the dyno day Rob, do you think that could pose any issues turning it back now? I suppose as long as it's going down and not up there shouldn't be a problem.
Actually I thought it was a chip tune copied to Nistune, Dave said it was actually just a complete stock tune......obviously my chip tune never made it across
