Steering Rack

Hi Guys,

I have to change my steering rack, was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem before. And more importantly, can anyone give me an estimate as what it will cost ?

heres a tech article link on one of the ways you can remove the rack...which im advised is a little more tricky than dropping the big metal thing underneath holding your engine in place...whats it called......ahh yes K frame!

I used this method and found it quick and relatively easy.

 

Steering not returning

Thanks for the article. I had to go into a workshop to do this as the car has an extended warranty.

Anyhow I picked up the car last night after work. It took me a while but on the drive home I realized the steering was not returning from either left or right

Needless to say I'm sending the car back to the workshop in the morning.

I'm making an educated guess here and narrowing down the faults to either any of the following :
1) Fault with the steering box / rack
2) Alignment set up


I would be interested to hear from anyone who has any thoughts on this
