I'm at the turn key stage of a full revamp of the ignition system.
I'm getting code 55, but the motor won't crank.
The noise I hear is similar to a electric arc welder with a stuck rod.
If the starter solenoid throws the shaft out, but there is a short in the high current side of the starter, will I get these symptoms?

Can you give a description of the noise another way ?

ot sure if it's relevant or not, I've never taken a Z32 starter apart, but it might be a similar issue to what I had with my R31?

My old zed had this happen, was the starter motor, replaced with a good one and off it went.
