    body and then wont start?

I just thought I would post this for young players to learn from.

I could hear the fuel pump working but still no start. Before checking for spark I thought I would check fuel pressure and I found none. Zero. Nada . Zilch.

What could it be I thought? I thought it must be the fuel pump so I was about to remove it when it struck me.

Guess what it was? the simplest thing but took me 20 minutes to suspect it.

is the car an auto? if so, was it not in park or neutral?

    Simpler than that...

Remember assume nothing and suspect the obvious first. The car cranks over but would not fire up.

    Bingo

    Yes. Correct.

It dawned on me when I noticed the fuel gauge was below the "E" mark. It dawned on me before I was about to pull the fuel pump out and had already checked the price of a replacement pump.

Just thought I would air my experience in the hope that other people would understand that the simple options are often overlooked by technicians. I would even say the experienced ones especially.

    Lesson learnt.

So did you park it empty  or did the fuel magically disappear

I poured in about 4 litres of fuel for testing...

about a month ago. i have started the engine a few times since then for afew minutes. i must have lost track of how many times I started the car. When i went to start it up last weekend it did not fire up.

That how it happened. Did not check fuel gauge for a while as the last time I checked it the yellow light was on and the gauge was reading just above the "E".
