i was wondering what differences are between normal spark plugs, and the platinum one on a ZX??? i know the platinum one last longer ... what else? ... will the car still run normaly if we put 6 normal sparkies? cheers
There is some good info on Spark Plugs on the NGK site http://www.ngkspark.com.au/product_index.htm?http://www.ngkspark.com.au/pages/product_spark.htm Caz..
read what happened and dont laugh please ... since 2 weeks, my car wasnt starting straight away when i turned it on ... i mean usually, i just turn the key, and the car starts straight away, but lately, it took like 3 even 4 seconds to start it. so today i checked my spark plugs, and 2 of them (the 2 hardest to remove at the top) were nearly dead. i was lookin to get some platinum from caz, but i really needed to use my car this afternoon. so i decided to plug 6 normal one for the time being... the funny part is, when i plugged the last spark plug (the closest one from the battery) the tool i was using to plug it (dont know its name in english) accidently fell on the + of the battery. So it was touching at the same time the battery and the spark plug inside the plug. and there wow, a lot of sparkles from the battery ... anyway, the battery is fine ... but now when i turn my car on, i can hear the noise like if the car is going to start ... but the car doesnt start ... any idea what happened? i checked all the fuses, and no one burnt ... HELP me please ... i feel sick when my car goes wrong ...
Champion Gold Spark Plugs Code: RC8YX4 with gasket tighten = 1/2 turn without gasket tighten = 1/16 turn
Champion discontinued the gold series, maybe there were problems with them, don?t know. What I found out is people did use them in gtr skylines and supra?s, so I would say if the plug code is the correct one for a zed tt, your car should run. Check the coil pack connectors, for the usual things, corrosion, damaged broken connector, you might only need to clean and retention them.
not sure but ... when i compared the 6 spark plugs that were on my car, i found that 4 were the same, while the 2 last (the ones in the back) were 4mm longer... obvioulsy, they r not the same as the 4 that are in the front, how could that be possible??? moreover, when i removed the new spark plugs, 2 of them were full of petrol ... and the engine really smeels petrol when i try to start it ...
Im not using platinum plugs, im using NGK V-Power plugs, thay are like 6 bucks each and my engine is cranking 11-1 comp, they are running fine. From memory they are a BCPR6E-11
you will need to remove your plugs and clean the petrol from them. also get the correct plugs for the other 2 cylinders, then you should be right. petrol on the plugs can prevent the car from starting.
yes which is why i said i thought a 1.1 gap would be too wide under the high combustion pressures in an enigne with 11 to 1 compression
Copper plugs will work fine, just won't last very long (around 5000km). Nissan recommends only using platinum plugs in the Z. There is a little placard in the engine bay stating this. Most people move to iridiums though.
Yeah 11-1 and a 1.1 gap on the plugs. I kept the standard gap, seems ok. If i have any problems i will go to a lower gap.
are you sure that you didn't fry a cell or two in your battery when you shorted the battery and it's just a bit harder to start with a few dead cells? Just a thought...
found the problem ... i brought my car to the garage ... the problem came from the fuel pump ... the pressure on petrol was too low thats y the car couldnt start ...
