    Have some SAW kit question.
    (Shift at will kit)

Who has one installed and how long have you had it in the car.
Has there been any problems with the box after a long period.
Do you think the gear box has handled it for the time up have had it.
Should I install a bigger oil cooler to help with the heat a SAW kit can create.

Next question is a long shot does anyone have for sale that they have not installed it yet.

I have manual gear box with all parts but no drive shaft as yet.
Maybe a deal could be done between the SAW kit and the manual bits I have.

If not the manual conversion will be up for sale soon.
    I have so far
    Gear Box with short shift.
    clutch peddle
    clutch booster
    brake peddle
    slave cylinder
    master cylinder
    cross member
    Flywheel
    console with shift boot.

All I need is tail shaft and braided line I think any think I am missing.
Need a new clutch and pressure plate though.

Had a SAW kit for several years

I have had a SAW kit for several years now (probably one of the first installations of the 2nd version in Australia).

I have used it with my V6-NA and I am now using it with the my VH45-V8 engine and Q45 gearbox.

    THINGS TO KNOW
    -----------------

You will definitely need to install an external gearbox oil cooler.

In automatic mode with spirited driving the gearbox map needs to have been edited appropriately (to take into consideration whether a NA or TT Z32 differential is being used) so that the 1st to 2nd gear change does not bounce against the rev-limiter.

The maximum line pressure throttle threshold set to 35% to prevent shudder on gear changes.

The SAW controller can be configured to use the overdrive button on the gear stick as a selector of which of the two automatic shift-maps (Sport and Comfort) should be used.

    REVIEW
    --------------
For spirited driving in automatic mode the SAW controlled gearbox feels significantly ?lighter? / ?sportier? and will race up to the 7000 rpm limiter before up-shifting. The OEM controlled gearbox on the other hand feels ?muscular? (i.e. ?bulky? but ?strong?) moving methodically up through the rev range before changing gears at around 4500 rpm.

For a standing start to 100 km/hr the SAW gearbox can be half a second to a full second faster than the OEM.

The SAW controller allows lockup of the torque converter in 4th gear to be used as a pseudo 5th gear for cruising situations. The SAW controller does incorporate a lock-up protection function that will not allow lock-up to be engaged until such time as the load decreases to an appropriate level. Lock-up will also be automatically disengaged when the brake pedal is pressed or the engine RPM drops below 1200RPM.

..gonz ... in addition to the useful review provided by "steven" check out relevant posts by "red dwarf" ... he too, was an early convert to SAW ... and posted a lot about the unit, installation and performance .. he was pretty wrapped with Saw ... a plus was that he set up a strong relationship with the developer ....

red dwaff does not appear to post a lot these days ..shame, cos he is a top guy ...
