damn I do not miss those days at all. Auto all the way so easy to pop in and out. just sits on the jack raise it up and bolt it on. I used to undo engine mounts and all 4 hoses then jack at crank pully. would get it in pretty easy then.
Man, you nailed it... And that is another reason why I have an AUTO Z. After mucking around with manuals, I thought the last thing I ever want to do is muck around with clutches and gearboxes especially on a Z32. As always, there is logic to the madness as to why some people prefer Autos on a Z32. Peter
Halle*****lujah Managed to get the box on this evening, when I dropped the back of the engine it went in fine, still a PITA to get in but it went in and managed to get all the bolts done up and even got the earth strap bolt reconnected. Continued with gearbox mount and driveshaft. Got the gearstick connected back up and I can select all the gears which is awesome Thats enough for tonight, its dark outside and I can't see anything lol!!!! Thanks for guys for all your help. Will update when its all done and I can drive it Anything I need to be aware of from this point on? Cheers Beavis
That you actually tightened up the flywheel bolts.................!!! Hawhawhaw!!! Good to hear you got it back in place M8!!! E
Right, finally got it all together and it seems to all be good Unfortunately I slightly over tightened the bolt at the bottom of the gear stick so the shifting is a little stiff will do that from inside the car. I also don't have any reverse lights - Got a feeling I might have knocked the wires on the reverse switch. I have a spare on the old gearbox. But all in all its all done and please its working. Just going to take it easy for a few km's before opening her up just to bed the clutch in and make sure nothing falls off lol!!! Thanks again for all the help Beavis
when your doing it you need to make sure that the engine and gearbox are perfectly inline with each other, easiest way to see this is the gap around the gearbox bellhousing and back of engine is even all the way around, if its slightly off it wont go in you must tilt the engine backwards, and to do this you will need to disconnect the pipes off the throttle bodies as these will be pulling the engine forward and jack it up off the crank pulley, you wont damage anything at the back of the motor
