    Coilovers

Previously i had MDU coilovers, after removing them from my old zed, and finding out the rear ones where stuffed, i was on the look out for some new ones without spending big dollars. So in comes Magic Mike with his big sale, so i picked these up:
JIC MAGICS, unknown spring rates, going to be like a kinda surprise.:)
Spent nearly an hour cleaning them up with 3 cans of degreasser [TIS] and could maybe do with a little more.
A few bits of flaking of the paint, from being hit, so ill fix that up before they go on so it cant rust.

In other news my amp is being repaired, by the manufacture under warranty. Two parts stuffed up usually caused by a drop in voltage, normally they wouldn't cover this but they have been nice and I don't have to fork out any extra money to compensate for this.
Next update will be when these are put in over the weekend.

    cruise control

So finally one of the problems to tick off my list!
Replaced all the components of the cruise control system one by one and turned out that the switches on the pedals went working.

    ****ed.
How do the pedal switches even break!? I suppose they get actuated/pressed/whatever whenever you use the pedals. But still. Maybe someone messed with them.

Good news :p It was starting to sound like those unknown electrical gremlins some cars get...

What does that clue mean? Did you buy Bride seats or something?

Ofcourse! Rather it's a different recaro to what most people put in there zed!

    The mammoth task ahead

4 days before zed fest and I've began a full retrim.. What am I thinking! Rear seats will be custom to match my new recaros, (embroidery is ridiculously expensive $103 for recaro on two pieces of fabric!)
Trims will also be in the same fabric, one mammoth task, such little time but thankfully my mother is lending her hands and expertise couldn't so it without her!
    Will reveal at zfest

    running out of time

14 hours till I leave for zfest and the zeds interior is almost completely stripped!
Gonna be a rush to get it done and get some sleep!
But if I don't say myself everything is coming up a treat and looking awesome!
Rear window has been replaced and the demister is now working. So all in all the last problem with this zed is the power steering

    Before and After Z fest

Prepare yourself for a slab of text and photos

So after my last post i worked frantically to get stuff finished before 5pm on the Thursday before z fest, well this was never going to happen. I started to rush and then muck up a few pieces in which I'm going to have to redo.
Then the next problem arose at 9. My seat rail would not fit my new recaros. what a pain, so we took to drilling out the bracket and finding some bolts to fit. got it in until i can get my hands on a set .
So for now the rear seats are half done with the covers just sitting there held on by wire and the passenger seat is awaiting install.

unfortunately I'm a tad silly and forgot to get photos, so these are the best i have for now:
    rear seats: (material only)
front seats: (excuse the white dots, apparently this seats hates photos.. the dots would appear in every photo..)
    trims:

Stereo surround was made to fit properly, which I am very pleased about, you can see the difference yourself
    beforehand:

    after:

All that's left now is a sub box. Which I'm planning on getting one from rob's upcoming group buy.

So if you read ryzans build thread and take notice you'll find i had a clutch incident  So i had no idea what a slipping clutch felt like and after a hard launch i had no idea what was happening and just powered through. Thankfully it cooled itself down and it went bake to feeling like the worn clutch it is and i bought a new one from CZP and decided id get other stuff while im there.
    • Item Name: CZP 300ZX Sintered Bronze Oil Impregnated Solid Shifter Bushings Z32
    • Item Name: Nissan / Infiniti Clutch Alignment Tool
    • Item Name: CZP 300ZX Upgraded Heavy Duty Clutch Fork Kit - 90-96 Z32 || OEM Pivot Ball || OEM Fork Boot || Koyo TOB || Genuine NISMO Pilot Bushing
    • Item Name: JWT 300ZX Street Clutch Non-Turbo 90-96 Z32

While a z fest we diagnosed my steering problem as loose steering rack bushings. Thanks to Ryan. So i bought the bushings while getting my clutch and then finally it will fix the last of the problems ive had with this zed since i bought it.
Now i think its a good idea to actually pay it off..
    nearly done stay with me
One last thing I was getting all my body pieces painted grey and then slapped on, but then i realised i would be unhappy with all the other imperfections, so ive opted for a full respray. Which is a delayed Christmas present from last year. aha
I am going an OEM Nissan colour bu not a zed colour, keeping it under wraps until its done as hopefully it turns out as good as i imagine.

so my slab of text is done. Will get some more pics of the interior tonight when i get home.

So a bit has happened in the last 2 weeks,
Old clutch was removed and made way for a jwt one.
Replaced the reverse switch and neutral switches while I was there.
Upgraded clutch fork, and pivot ball. Rear main seal was done.
Flywheel was machined and put in with new arp flywheel bolts

The passenger recaro is now in, both rails now on bride mo rails. Super happy with them just need to re do the interior as I rushed it before a feat and I'm just not happy with it.

And finially I have a dare for a respray. Complete colour change, open door. Second weekend of September. Cannot wait, a lot of prepping to do before then though. Watch this space!!

    Unique Zed

So im always thinking how can i make my zed unique and different from everything out there, And after driving a few newer cars, I got to thinking, what about changing my ratty steering wheel for something new, at first i thought about a re-trim then realised I want more, more buttons to be exact so I went and bought this:
    A 370Z steering wheel.
At first I wasn't sure if it would suit or even fit! But after getting some spares together, it sat nicely, Until I realised that some pieces needed to be cut and drilled to get the buttons to work.
First things first was to get the new clock spring to fit.
Seeing as my zed being a 1990 does not have an airbag, it was a little difficult, I had to cut the indicator stalks holder.
    Starting from this:
    To this:

Next up was making sure everything fit, in which it did but up came my next problem, how to get the indicator to cancel.
I then thought why not use the piece that the stock wheel does?
So i cut and i sanded then i glued this piece to the clock spring to end up with:

I then glued the two pieces together
    [IMG]

Then i placed it on the car. I'm extremely happy with it, although only the horn is wired in as I'm going to get help from an auto electrician to get the cruise control and radio buttons to work.

Still need to modify the column surround but ill leave that for another day.

Looks good, that was going to be an option for my " Vert " if we couldn't have found a replacement airbag one. Shouldn't be to hard getting the wiring done, my auto eleccy said it would take a bit, but not impossible.

  18. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Points for being creative. Awaiting judgement for some better pics (interiors are a pain! need to get the car out into some daylight) and how many of the buttons you can get working.

Steering cover has been attached very roughly to make it look like I haven't stolen the car haha

In other news only two weeks until a complete exterior make over. This has been in the making since the start of last year, before I wrote my first one off, cannot wait!
