I've tried search and looked in the tech section but there doesnt seem to be anything about this? Does anyone know which wire to disconnect to stop it beeping in reverse? It is quite annoying...

    Its a Japan thing

From memory, based on all the cars I drove in Japan, (friends, family, business, rented) they all beep in reverse its a legal requirement that the do.

    drives me insane..

the other thing that drives me insane is the new subaru imprezza seat belt buzzers...

all i can say is follow the sound and rip that MOFO out.. than dip it in some sort of flamable liquid/gel and set it alight... made me feel better..

Yeah auto jap specs have them, mine does.

I don't mind it really, how often do you reverse? Plus because of the beep it may have stopped me reversing into my garage door

Not on mine(or my Brother's)Manual TT's. In 11 years of Z32 ownership and numerous Forum cruises, I have never heard(or heard about)this so-called nuisance item.:confused::confused::confused:
They were all the rage in the Philippines 30 years ago, everything had them fitted as after-market accessories.:br::rofl::rofl:

Fairly sure it's auto only. If you need a beeper to tell you your manual car is in reverse you probably shouldn't be driving...

:D It might be an annoying sound , but it's a sound that should be made compulsory on all cars.

Seeing as we are getting more and more like Amerikaaaaaaaaaaa every day, imagine reversing out of a driveway and some lame brained dropkick not watching where they are going because their too busy texting, and you clip them or heaven forbid run over their dumb arses, sues YOU , because you didn't have a warning device they could hear to warn THEM you were reversing or whatever some money hungry lawyer comes up with as an excuse. Might be annoying, but could potentially save you a crap load of dollars better spent on your car, booze or wild women :p

sorry to rain on your parade, but if it is anything like the reverse beeper in my Z its internal to the car, designed for the driver to hear not for people outside the car, for this you would still need one of those annoying reverse light beeper combos installed.

It's an in cabin beeper scotty. They'd have to have pretty good ears to hear it with the withdows wound up and ac on full!

:D Well whoever owned mine, must have set up an external one beeper, coz ya can hear mine as well as inside, annoying yes on both counts, but it's made a few of the knobs where i live stop before i ran over their dumb arses

mine never had one. personally i think all the beepers in cars now are fkn annoying. put it in reverse, beeps. open the door, beeps. lights on with keys in, beeps. sit in seat with keys in, beeps. try to listen to the stereo without the car running, more bloody beeping.
