Resonated vs non-resonated exhausts

Hi all,

I'd like to know your opinions/experiences on this matter regarding TT and full 3" systems.

Eg, between the two; level of noise and unwanted attention, performance, etc.

All opinions much appreciated.

i had the resonators taken out to let more flow and was a big mistake. great sound and breathes better but come rego i have had nothing but trouble for noise
and damn its loud cant drive for long periods of time coz the drone and rumble comin from under the zx. it gets to much

 

Ditch the resonators and get a centre x-pipe muffler.

 

why would your resonators effect flow .. aren't they straight through?

my setup, it's not loud, and has a nice deep tone, not pictured are 3'' cats cut into the mids

three inch to 2.5'' mid pipes with resonators, 2.5 X pipe and magnaflows, the ones in the pic are not magnaflow but look the same, sold them to someone here.

sounds mostly depends on your mufflers and if you have turbos. i run dual3" with cats and magna flow muffs and its not noisy at all.. no x or h pipes either..

depends on your mufflers, buy cheapy cannons or n-power muffs and it will be loud and sound

 

Ive heard your exhaust Simmo. Sounds more like a rocket ship with 2 straight through 3 inch pipes

 

What model Magnaflows do you have if you don't mind me asking?

 

I've had both, non resonated made more power and the car pulled harder but i could not stand the sound it made and how loud it was.

 

If you dont like the sound, add some more resonators. No need to sacrafice any power ah.

 

Got a new exhaust anyway.

 

I thought resonators don't sacrifice any power?

Well my car made more power non resonated, a noticeable difference between pretty much straight piped and a normal resonated exhaust.

what is a resonated exhaust??
an exhaust with resonators? (that are straight through)?

there would be no differense in power just less drone

 

an exhaust with resonators vs an exhaust that has none......i felt a big difference with mine.

 

yeah the loud noise made it go faster

 

Ok! we established that having resonators is the way to go.

Now, what's the average size? do I get 12" or 18" long ones? Also, what will be the difference in sound between them?

I just don't want to get the 18" only to find out its to quiet and the 12" to be to loud!!!

Grrrrr, my head hurts to many decisions
