I have been getting the dreaded code 34, I tried resetting the ECU by shorting the wires, i think this method was posted by chad a long time ago.
But after driving for a while and i retested the codes i got 34 again.. Am considering relocating the det sensor.. but before i do that is there anything else that i should check for ... also where could i get a second hand det sensor and the harness for it. Any comments on this would be appreciated. Has anyone done this before ...
From the article in tech section .. it seems the det sensor Detects detonation ... but am not too sure if it picks up When the engine is not detonating .. if you know what i mean.

ive relocated mine to the top of the plenum

see the tech section for more details.....
dont use a second hand det sensor, they arent that expensive you can get the sensor and the harness from concept z,caz racing and many others for fairly cheap....
    cheers

    some answers...

firstly, the det sensor just acts as a simple microphone and always listens for detonation in a certain rev range. On a TT, this is between 0-3000 rpm under high load conditions. On an NA, the knock map is stretched to 4000rpm (ie, 0-4000 rpm) under high load conditions...

so basically, if your det sensor picks up what it thinks is detonation it will access the knock map which will reduce the timing, and on a TT throw you into safety boost.

    Cheers
