    hi,
i have an import (had it for over a year now) and have been too lazy to get it re gassed.
    would anyone know the prices?
Also is there any where in vic that still uses the old gas so i don't have to change parts in the system.

    Please Help!!!

Summer is here and i didn't have air con last summer and it wasn't much fun.

The old school gas is banned and for a good reason

So you won't find any place to do it. But I recall a post from ages back where someone updated their air con system on the cheap using Nissan Patrol parts.

there are some places that do

had my last car regassed with the old stuff about a year ago before I picked it up from the dealer, my Z also came gassed up from Japan, customs just requested an exemption for me to leave the gas in it.

    Thanks peoples

    thanks for the help.
i'll try and get the old (illegal) gas, but if this fails at least it looks as though i have another reasonably cheap option.

    Try

Ringwood Dynomatic, phone 98700260 ask for Ben. He will charge about $80/100 for regassing and does a good job.

    i had mine re-gased last week >

a few places said i needed to convert it but one place said there was no dramas putting in the new gas r123 or something like that and they put in a universal oil to the system. they also did tell me that i could have it converted but they said the parts they replace sometimes leak more than older systems. cost me $95 including the new oil.

i called the ringwood place and a place in clayton which is closer.
They both can do a replacement type old gas.
its not r12 it is hr12. it is supposed to be the same pressure as the old gas but not as bad for the environment.
so i can get it done cheaper and still be tree hugger.

    Speaking of Air-Con...

Does anyone know roughly how much the Air conditioning weighs?

    HR12 vs R12 aicon gasses ??

Here is some info on HR12

    HR12

and hit "HR12" on the left.

it seems that I neither need to find some R12, or to fit the conversion kit.

does anyone have some experience re the effectiveness of HR12 ?

whats your aircon like now DBCAR ?

    some other info
