Racelogic Traction control

    Mike after how long i waited to get myself one, i sure dont plan on selling it haha but if you have any suggestions on how to install, feel free to let me know :p

    Don't get an auto electrician to do it, do it yourself.
    The hardest part is crimping the connectors as the wires are so small.
    Does your Non ABS Z have the "wheels" that the sensor reads?

    I do not have the time to do it myself, plus while the zed is having work done by the mechanic i figured it is the best time to get it done rather than have the zed off the road yet again

    What do you mean by the "wheels"? When the mechanic had a look, the bracket/connection for the speed sensor on the hubs were not there at all compared to a zed with ABS. So the wheel sensors that came with the racelogic kit will have to be installed by drilling it in by the looks of it, which is why i thought id check to see if anybody had a non-abs zed that they had installed one of these

    The ABS monitors the speed of each wheel individually.
    To do this the sensor has to have something to trigger it.
    Behind the wheel hubs there is a "wheel" similar in appearance to a gear cog.
    As the "wheel" rotates past the sensor it induces a signal to the ABS ECU, this is how the ABS 'knows' if a wheel is not turning (or locked up) during heavy braking.
    You need the "wheels" so the sensor can read the wheel speed.
    I don't know if the "wheels" are fitted to a Non ABS Z.
    If you don't have them then you may require four ABS wheel bearing hub assemblies.

    On the rear, these ABS 'wheels' are on the diff stub axles (TT, not 100% on NA)

    So you would nee a diff from a zed with ABS for the rear.

    Thanks guys for the replies. I shall pass that on to the mechanic & auto-elec & see what they say, as the racelogic kit i have is meant for cars with no abs & the sensors go off the speed sensor rather than the abs sensors, which is my understanding from what i read

    Unfortunately the speed sensor is a single output unit attached to the gearbox.
    You need to measure each wheel speed individually.

    Yeah as east coast said, that makes no sense.

    You need sensors both at the gearbox (for gear speed) and at the wheels (for wheel speed). Obviously for traction control for a two wheel drive you only need them at the rear though, so it may be as simple as swapping diffs. Though you may find your diff already has these rings.

    It may not use the ABS sensors at the wheels, but it does need sensors at the wheels.

    You'd need wheel speed sensors on all wheels, not just the driven ones. Otherwise the TC system will have no idea whether the rear wheels have lost traction or not.

    If the traction control is monitoring gear speed, and rear wheel speed, then it shouldn't need to monitor front wheel speed?

    Instamatic is correct....

    ....the traction control monitors the four wheel speeds.
    The rear wheels are referenced against the front wheels & also against each other.
    Speed & rpm are also referenced.
    If Launch Control is activated the engine will only rev to a predetermined rpm, whatever you want that to be.
    The same deal with Full Throttle Shift as the rpm is also set to another predetermined rpm without lifting the throttle.

    Racelogic Traction Control is the best modification you can do to your Z.
