Hey guys , a few weeks ago i spotted a thread where someone had apec apache rims on a TT, red car i think??
Now have been told i need a 15mm spacer for the front (caliper clearence).
I already have a 20mm spacer on the front, ....will this be too much???

Hopefully who ever the forum member who had those rims on a TT can tell me what they ran on their car.
    Thanks in advance.
I know Renzed is using these rims but hers in a NA im sure.

Hopefully ordering them tomorrow, stgeorge tyres will be supplying them and the spacers

Quick photochop to get a idea,,,,, what do you all think???

TT or NA should be no different with regards to rim fitment.

So those rims should definatly be available in the correct offset to not require a spacer. I would not be compromising and using spacers if I knew the rims I wanted came in the correct offset to start with.

It's a different story if the rims don't come in the right fitment, but with the apache's you should not have that issue.

Maybe the tyre place only has certain offsets left they are trying to move so they will sell you those even though the right ones are available?

    Ben

PS, if you do go with spacers, for 15mm i'd most definatly be wanting bolt on ones.

nice looking wheel for sure, but very weak widths 18 x 8 and very weak offsets(sit too far under for a tough look),you wont need spacers unless you want to make it look aggressive, look around more as there are plenty out there imo

yeah kinda sounds like they're trying to sell you their floor stock that isnt the correct offset. Maybe try another shop.

    I'm pretty sure Apache's are ONLY +40?

Almost got some for the 180sx a while back. May have changed since then but at the time it was +40 or nothing.

The design of the apache is nice and clever. The spokes have an aggressive curve INWARDS as they go from hub to dish.

This gives HEAPS of dish on what is actually quite a slim rim.

I could see this causing clearance issues if you've had a break upgrade, but if they fit an NA with clearance, and NA calipers are the same as TTs (question?), then should fit no problems.

They look awesome on a Zed as Renzed has proved.

I didn't get them for the 180sx as on that, they sit too far in the guard and look odd.

then with the design of the Apache, I can see why there "might" be issues.

dont turn this into an anti renzed thread ,all i was saying is they are a too skinny wheel with a weak offset, and that cannot be disputed
I never said there was anything wrong with her car ;)

Prefer the Apaches to those :D.

There is something really wrong with the information in this thread.

If the suggestion is that the Apaches will bolt straight up to an NA and need a 15mm spacer for a TT, that is impossible. Why, because there is only about a 3mm clearance between the caliper and the OEM Zed wheel on both the NA and the TT models. That means the calipers are the same size.

I accept the calipers are different (26mm rotor vs 30mm rotor), but the overall caliper size must be the same on both cars, or there would need to be different OEM wheels for NA and TT cars - and there aren't.

Are you sure you and Renee are talking about EXACTLY the same wheel?

    see my other post.

The zed wheels have a relatively FLAT spoke design

The apaches spokes curve IN very aggressively as they reach the edge of the wheel to give maximum dish on a thin wheel.

So, a larger diameter rotor would mean the caliper is further out yes?
So that could bring the caliper too close to where the Apache's spokes are tapered inward to give dish.

15mm would seem excessive though, given the rotor difference is only 4mm?. Dunno.

Hey Barry, i think because the rotors are bigger ,hence the caliper is further out , and with a spoke design curve like the apache's have, they would hit.
And yes the exact same wheel :D

And Si ...????lol i Was sticking up for her, but we can see your point too!!
no need for a baiting session mate ;)

    have you ordered these yet?

    Si has a point.......

you see I LOVED the Apaches and nearly got them for my 180sx as said before.

I also re-considered them when I saw how good they looked on Renzed car.

    BUT

look around (and i know you have) and consider what quality of Rim you can get in the USED light weight jap market.

Don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket and you could easily bag good condition used Volks (for example) with near new or even new rubber for the same money.

That's how I got my Workmeisters. I just waited and waited. Missed out on some good sales, and eventually bagged the Work Meisters with BRAND NEW 245's all round (un-used with stickers still on) for $1K

Be patient and bargains do come up.

esp as you have a TT.... be nice to have some fat thread on the rears ;)
