have been pondering the issue of all us Vic zedders getting together for cruise up to zedfest and as such did a little looking on google maps.

Croydon, Vic - Dubbo, NSW :)p roughly me)

    Melbourne, Vic - Dubbo, NSW

    Ballarat, Vic - Dubbo, NSW

    Geelong, Vic - Dubbo

    Bendigo, Vic - Dubbo, NSW

    Shepparton, Vic - Dubbo, NSW

(sorry for all the links, would have done screenshots of maps (retaining copyright stuff) and had them hosted to put up as images but didn't want to get myself or this forum in trouble.) (anyone know a legit way i can get the actual google maps to show on here without doing what i said or if i am actually allowed to do what i said) (also sorry for my ranting sorry disclaimer)

    anyways back to the topic....
seems there will be a few of us heading up from Vic for Zedfest and based loosely off the google maps most of those west of Melbourne would all be heading though roxburgh park, wallan and seymour and onto Euroa where it meets the path i would be on (guessing most of the zedders from east would take similar route) if i am not staying the night at my aunties in aulbury/wodonga. The routes to dubbo from shep or bendigo are very different than those of the other 4 maps i linked, think it would be about 100km extra for these guys to possiblely meet up with us in aulbury.

so to go ahead with us planning this we need to know what times/ days we are planning on heading up and after that we can organise some meeting spots and possiblely detour slightly off the straightest route to enjoy the beautiful scenery our lovely country provides (and to avoid heavily populated areas and speed cameras altough we all always obey posted speed signs)

Well I haven't actually figured out which way we are going yet..was hoping for a thread like this to start ;)...

Anyway, I would love to cruise up together in a group, so depending on the route you guys decide on we'll probably meet you along it somewhere..like Seymour or Benalla..

Hope it's good driving weather, wanna slather on the sunscreen and cruise up with the roof off :D

What days are people travelling up on?
Craig and I have booked Fri, Sat and Sun night at the Macquarie Inn..so we plan on driving up on Friday morning and returning on Monday night.

Also...does anyone know where we can check whether the towns we are planning to travel through are flooded or not? I know it's still a month away..but would be good to check the day before so we don't get stuffed around.

    ZEDFEST...can't WAIT!!! :zlove:

was already thinking on this, vicroads has it clearly listed and after a little poking around found it on RTA site aswell, and actually looking at that i am a little concerned how we are going to get from Albury to Dubbo, any advice on this from our NSW brethren would definately be appreciated.

thinking this will be mostly the same for us all, i will try and work out some meet up times and what not and see how it sits with everyone (will also try and map out 98 ron petrol stations along the route to do refuel stops.)

been scanning RTA map trying to find us a route up to dubbo, at the moment it looks like through Gundagai, Young and Cowra are safest. seems like getting into and out of Forbes at the moment would be nigh on impossible.

in regards to planning i am thinking a lunch stop in Albury between 12-1 at Noreuil Park, Cnr of Wodonga Pl and Ebden st. lots of petrol stations along the wodonga pl strip and the park we would be at is opposite a BP which from google street view seems to have 98 ron fuel. also is very close to Albury's main strip to grab something from a food store, though being a public holiday they most likely will be closed, i am thinking of organising a sausage sizzle possiblely at the park, (selling sausages to us for $1 and donateing any profit after buying the snags, bread and sauce to our lovely forum if this would be ok with the forum gods) would be able to hopefully organise my aunty to get the foodstuffs for me and i would just swing past her place to grab it, or if i have room in the Z my esky will keep snags cold for 3hrs (and i used to be a chef for 8 years so can definately cook a sausage, could even bake the bread and cook the sauce if i could be bothered).

but please put up any ideas comments or suggestions asap so i can work out a cruise and submit it to mods for coming events section

    NSW Person here :)
Albury, WaggaWagga, Temora, West Wyalong, Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo
    Alternate route
Seymour,Shepparton, Tocumwal, Finley, Jerilderie, Narrandra, West Wyalong, Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo.
With luck, no more heavy rain, the flood waters will be clear in a week to 10 days.
Suggest second route as more direct, but your choice.

Water does tend to hang around Forbes for a while.
Keep checking the RTA web site

thanks for advice, BOM site says should be pretty clear in NSW & VIC until thursday (as far as rain forecast went).

taking worst case scenarios though and floods being same or worse, pretty sure all Vic zedders should be able to make our way to Albury (as Shepparton route has lots of road closures at this time) what would the NSW zedders suggest for us to get to Dubbo if Forbes is inaccessable? might have to put forward 2 routes for coming event thingy.

    idea:

meet up at chittick park, pollard rd, seymour, vic 3660. 10ish (or if only a few of us for this leg we will meet at the BP)

closest servo to here is the BP, 58 Anzac Avenue, Seymour VIC 3660 which has 98 ron

up the Hume about 220 km to wodonga/albury for 12.30-1.00 arrival (we need to decide which side of the border to have lunch on have 2 parks picked out with)
either belvoir park, huon st, wodonga vic 3690 or Noreuil Park, Wodonga Pl, Albury, NSW 2640 and have decided actually to do the sausage sizzle and buy the sausages and what not myself and donate all the money off you guys to the royal childrens hospital good friday appeal, give that they may grow and all that :zlove: 2 things in this world make me sad:( sick babies/children and broken Z's

2-2.30 leave albury/wodonga and head to west wylong (arriving somewhere between 5.30-6.30, about 280 km) for refuel stop and dinner (possiblely stopping in wagga wagga or somewhere on the way to meet up with ACT and area zedders??) 98 ron available in west wylong

7-8 leave west wylong and head to dubbo arriving 10-11??

(dependent on no floods, and allowing slightly for some road damage from floods) can trim breaks of course. will reasearch the NSW leg a bit more, but for vic leg of the cruise how do my details sound?

Hey not a intentional thread high jack but I may end up organizing the southern nsw cruise ( Canberra down) and I/we would be keen to meet up with you all on the way through and convoy as a group .

I realize this will need coordination and planning and am willing to do so. :)

already sort of planning for this. (will need to clean up my times though to get it to work), would be great to have someone to help guide us through NSW also.

Just looked at the trip, thought it was a 6 hour drive, its actually 10 haha.

So can we try and confirm the day at least? Are we leaving the 6th or the day before zedfest?

Arriving between 10-11 is kinda late - QLD crew will be well sloshed by the time you get there :)

as it stands i am planning this for the 6th, as there are no actually activities planned for the Friday. also doing a night run we would shave about 3-4hrs from having much shorter breaks and avoiding holiday traffic, though would be much harder to keep an eye on each other.
I have 30/3/12 - 14/4/12 off, and was initially planning on spending thursday night at my aunties in Wodonga. if you guys are up for it i am more than happy to do a night run

allowing alot for holiday drivers, the crap condition of NSW roads around area currently flooded and my scheduled breaks are purposefully long right now to just get a feel for what my fellow Vic zedders want. also with multiple cars with P plates i didn't want to time it out to the speeds we normally seem to do on Vic cruises.:zlove:

Night run is cool with me, the lack of traffic would be awesome!

Fair call - I have recently asked the question of whats happening on the Friday night as nothing has yet been mentioned

Normally we have a BBQ and a meet and greet session with everyone arriving mid afternoon

I'd prefer not to do a night run..I was thinking about leaving nice and early round 7am and getting to Dubbo by around 4-5pm

would plan on taking a different route if doing a night run, starting it closer to the city, like Bundoora and going through Kinglake, Yea and Boonie Doon to take advantage of the clear roads, and much more fun route to drive than up the Hume, google map says this would add 10km and 30 minutes to the trip from Bundoora to Wodonga up the Hume.

or going little crazy, but meet up in the city, cruise out on eastern and up over mount dandy and then the same route from yea (adds 46kms and 90 minutes (rather than Hume) but some lovely twisties on mount dandy)

this would work well if we end up doing a night run, though would be problematic meeting up with ACT crew then. all depends on what the others define as "night run" also. guessing straight run with just fuel stops.

what time would this have you going through Albury? might even end up spawning 2 cruises out of this. How many vic zedders are definately going currently.

to make this easier for me to try and work out logistics of, i will start a list of those thinking of joining this proposed cruise. can i get forum name, surburb you will departing from, day and time you roughly prefer leaving and if you want a direct route or "scenic" (slightly longer but in my opinion more fun roads to drive). (i will put both my possible departure thingies in as examples, as i am on 2 weeks holidays i am flexible) (any routes i do will only be "scenic" for Vic leg, i have no idea of NSW roads.)

please copy this list and add your details so we can work out if we cruise up en masse

    1. Bullus, Croydon 3136, thursday 9pm or later, scenic. (avoiding normal people leaving with families for holidays)
    2. Bullus, Wodonga 3690, friday 9am, direct.
