    Hey guys,

Im usually pretty cluely and can give advice to others bout their probs but as most would know, when something happens to ur own car ya stress and u want answers NOW!

So im in that position now, im annoyed and i want answers so any help, advie, how to go about cheking etc would b great.

I only recently got my 89 300ZX TT 2seater and i knew it would need some fixing up here and there and it was something i was happy to take on.

It had been driving prety well, nothing to complain of but there was a rattling sound like an exhaust cover had come loose or something.

Anyway...my friend came around to chek out the car and i took him for a ride, nothing crazy (as i was TRYING to save fuel) but just giving it a hit to around 6k rpm up 2 streets then just came bak and parked. When i parked i noticed that the "exhaust rattle" had gotten worse, from a lil to very noticeable.

SO a few hours later i had to go out so fired her up and all seemed fine but as said the rattle was still evident. SO got under way and straight away noticed it wouldnt rev past 3k rpm, i kept driving as it was dark so couldnt chek anything and was on my way to a relo where i was staying for the nite. The whole way i noticed it just would not go past 3k and when ever i tried it would feel like a massive flat spot and no power. One other thing i noticed was the exhaust sounded like it had a leak, but i know that for it to cause a problem like that the leak would hav to b before the turbo but sounded like it was further down the exhaust.

    SO suggestions, help ANYTHING!
    Thanks in advance :(

Check your AFM - That'll be your problem:cool:

Pull the front nose panel off, pull your pod filter off and check that the AFM is still there:thumbsup:

    thats my suggestion

Without the AFM the car wont rev past 2500 rpm and does exactly as your describing.

    IB ?????

Sounds like a Cat may have collapsed and is blocking the exhaust ...>>

the rattling sound would be the core of the Cat.

2nded on the cat imploding... Check exhaust output from

rear of pipes with hands ... reduced output/different sound is the clue
