Now that E-T has left a big hole in the front on my slicktop, the mission is to clean it up. Now in all the reading and searching I've not come across any warnings about doing it. Well I can tell ya, it's tough going. Just as well I have a good back as the car is on stands and stands quite high. Being 6'2" helps but it's still a stretch. Here's what a days hard yakka gets you. Hmmm, gets me anyhow. By gargoyle123 at 2011-07-19 I'll just plod along and see where that gets me.
Don't you have a welder? Seam weld her up Looks great I had to sell my share in super cheap degreaser lol
oh damn, for a minute i thought you got it looking that clean with just degreaser =p, then i noticed the overspray =p remember if you spot any rust to sand it, use converter, primer then spray it
Great advice about the rust converter. I found out about that in my searching and have been using it. Amazing stuff. I stuffed up a bit though, it's my rite as an idiot. I waltzed into Malz with a bit of the car so I can match up the colour. The guy askes me "what's the colour code"? Code, what friggin code? Quite confident of a match because my artistic ego's kicking in, I grab what looks like a perfect match and off I go real pleased with myself. Well that didn't last long. I should have brought my glass's with me, never said I was bright either. Match? Just as well I know I'm an idiot or I'd be really pissed off. So I have a new plan. The guys at Malz said they could make up a can for me, all they need is that code number. Nose straight under the bonnet and I find "paint code 673 G" So the new plan is to see if they can make up that code and then respray. Arrrr, nothing like doing something two or three times.
I had paint color mixed up for my silver zed to match(at pep's) but they had alot of trouble and couldnt get it quite right. was a long time ago, but I think they didnt have enough info on it or something. and had way too much (glitter?) in the paint. I eventually want to respray the whole car in a new silver, still undercided on which silver, but I first need to make a booth at home =]. And on a further note I for some reason not sure why, eventually when i have my engine out, I wanna remove everything, and do my engine bay in a dark grey
or if you decide you ever feel the need to go to the queer side, how about changing the tone of your engine bay honda styles? judging by this, v-tech is an std, and this car is in the advanced stages.
I remember being told a few weeks back by a spray painter that one of the hardest colour to match is GRAY... Anyhow... looking good, John! Arvin
mine is also 673 and have had cans made up before and are a perfect match. The professional panel beater however could not match the colour .
