Over 8000 PHOTOS of 300ZX's for $20 Posted

Probably the BEST collection of 300ZX IMAGES in the world. Every enthusiast must have a copy!

Huge (over 2 GB) including many high definition pictures, wallpapers, posters, magazine articles etc.

Collected over two and a half years from all round the world and culled, artistically cropped and rotated to make horizons level.

To the peoples whos cars you are using? It is one thing to steal pictures off the net, but when you profit from the sale of such items you might find it a problem.

I would prefer just to remove those photos from the collection of over 8000.

The main aim is to share my enjoyment of the collection with other enthusiasts, without it costing me a fortune.

At the asking price of $20, each photograph earns 1/4 of a cent (excluding my direct costs of $8 for 4 CD's, packaging and postage, and my labour costs).

Say I sell 20 collections then each photograph earns total revenue of 5 cents.

Anyone who can be bothered chasing after 5 cents of royalty should get a life.

 

Of course you'd prefer to remove the images...you're chasing $$$

The royalties aren't the point. You've made no contribution to this forum other than to try and sell Z pictures you've collected on the internet, including ones from this site (see HERE).

There is a real comraderie that exists here. I don't like the fact you are trying to sell ice to eskimos in that you are essentially selling members photos of their cars. Unbelieveable! How much have you learnt from this site? Are you glad you didn't have to pay for that advise? Would you still be here if you had to pay for advise / membership?

Members here could hold all others to ransom with their knowledge, but they don't. They are happy to share their experiences. Now compare this to what you are doing...

I think everyone has taken this a little too far.. Personally I don't see an issue here, Keith has gone to the trouble of collecting all these photos and put them onto a DVD so other forum members can share in the Z love. Sure the photos might not be his own..but does it really matter? its not like he is making a living from it. Maybe $20 is a little steep. Perhaps $5 - $10 to cover costs of the DVD, postage and time.

Give him a break, he is just trying to do something nice for the 300zx community.

If I was looking through a collection of Z photos and saw my car I'd think it was cool.

 

Guys - Another perspective....

Perhaps what you're paying for is not the photo's (as they're accessible from public domain anyway), but his time accumulating them all into one place, copy to CD's package and post.....

It's not for everyone - Some people are very good at finding photo's, some aren't. Plus these have been retouched. I haven't seen them or know the quality of the retouching, but that alone can take some time. Not sure If I prefer them unedited or not, but if you prefer it, the work's done....

For those that aren't, or dont have the time, it's not an unreasonable amount.

Just a thought.

pps. 5c royalty isn't much....until you sell 10,000,000 of an item, then it's $500,000!!! You'd be suprised how many millionaires got there in those sort of figures. Musicians get similar deals when their songs are played....

 

Well my photos are on the way so i will let you all know. I think its going to take me hours and hours to look at all these pics so I think $20 to amuse me for so long is ok. Thats my opinion anyway.

With somebody trying to make money from selling pictures that I happily share for free. Photos that I and other members have taken and posted should not then become the property of someone else to go and sell. We put a lot of effort into this site and one of the main things we do is keep it free so that anyone can log on and share in the knowledge and spirit of the fellow members.

I agree. People have offered these pictures up on the Internet for free and its probably not entirely right to re-sell them.

If you want to make a profit, then tell everyone that you have collected these pics and you want to make a profit, thus why you want to sell it for $xx (in this case you should, out of courtesy, ask every single author of those 8000 pics if you can sell their pictures..)

If you really just want to share them, then upload it as a torrent, and freely share it to the world! :thumbsup:

to be honest, i'm not surprised something like this has started (from nothing).
the impression i get (as well as on a lot of other forums) is that there's a lot of people who simply post a product up for sale, or organise a group buy for a product they know about etc.
Then within a day there are people out fully bagging it. the point i'm making is that there's nothing wrong with not agreeing with whats being done, its more a case of how you go about it.
for instance i put up a thread a while ago about some spark plugs. my mate who's also my mechanic and runs a reputable business was able to get hold of these spark plugs. he became the dealer from japan. i put up a post explaining to everyone what they were, and if someone wanted to try them etc. they could give them a whirl, if not satisfied, he'd gladly refund money etc. Instead i got flamed by all these people saying how inferior and stupid it was, i wouldn't mind if they had said they didn't believe me and then i had the job of persuading them, it was more the reception they gave me.
i met ozZXtc on a tech day the other day, purely a nice guy with an awesome zed, and i highly doubt he is doing this for a profit, more so to share some great pictures. yes he's not donating any proceeds from the forum, but he shouldn't have to. it'd be nice if he did, but it isn't really goint to bother me if he doesn't.
some people seem to be so aggressive on these forums that they may not seem to but can come across to other people as being overly passionate about something.
anyway, my rant is ended, sorry for filling up your thread with more nonsense.

ordering one. If my Zed is on there that's OK by me. I am a self confessed Zed nut-case, and would love to browse through photos of other Zeds.

I do however, appreciate the opinion of Wykked, and I would even be prepared to pay a bit more if it was going to benefit this forum in some way.

i think it would be alright if..

he puts the information down on where he found the pics, gave props to the websites they were taken from e.g
google
aus300
oz300
ttnet
etc etc.. if people know where he found them then they are able to ge them themselves, and if they cbf doing it themselves they have the $20 option.

the image referred to by BigCol in his post was taken by myself. Keith has asked if he could use it. I can't see the wrong in what Keith is doing here. I think this has gone a little overboard. Get over it guys. :zlove:Just my 2c
