Oh dear god.... Didn't I say don't play with anything lol ... Now what cables are hanging low enough to knock out of place... Is your immobilizes working? Power to dash/ fuel pump etc?

lol i wasnt, i just went to start it and it didnt... and oh god, do zeds have immobilizers as standard? cause if mine has one i dont have the button for it and thats exactly what it looks like... :/

No they are after market... Check your battery connections are tight

i've got power to dash and everything, i tried running the tests with dr300zx and everything works and no errors

Check your main fuses drivers side near brake booster.. Namely battery fuse and engine cont fuse

Ok so something else is ****ed... Does it try to turn over? Does the fuel pump prime, has spark?

fuel pump primes everything is fine it just doesnt crank or even try to

Deverything is not fine- it wont atart... Does the starter try to engage ? Clicking from dash when trying to start?
A- battery not charged enough to crank( can look good but voltage too low... Try jump starting or different battery)
B- starter relay buggered- bypass it
C- you've ****ed your engine and seized it

MSG me tomorrow and I'll walk you through some stuff to try... Right now off to bed early starts are shit.

nah no clicking, thats usually what happens when the battery is dead, i can turn the lights on and try to start it, they dont dim, but the clock and aircon pod do

Just cos lights are on doesn't mean battery has enough charge... This is why I said to try jumping it... And won't always click either if battery low enough

ok it sounds like 1 of 3 things that could possible be wrong here.
    1. flat battery
    2. power not getting to starter motor. bypass this by running powwer directly to the starter

Everyone is on the money - but to summarise for simplicity

Even if you hear no clicking, (clicking = flat battery or bad terminal connection issue) The starter should still attempt to engage (given your lights are working enough) and so you will hear a distinct clunk (the solenoid engaging).

If you hear a clunk, the problem is a battery issue or seized motor, (yes it is possible for the starter to be still faulty in the starter windings itself but this is rare and can be in 96% of the times discounted, as it is mostly the starter solenoid that fails).

Just to really complicate things - In some rare cases the starter solenoid tooth can be exactly lined up with the ring tooth (on the ring gear), this is rare as it will normally push one tooth or the other into position. If this occurs with tooth to tooth exaclty you will hear a very faint clunk as there is not enough movement to make a full clunk. The procedure for this is to rock the vehicle back and forth in gear then attempt to start again - THIS can only be done with manuals or auto's can be damaged!!! For an auto the procedure (ad hoc) is to hit the starter case with a hammer to knock into into a tooth engage position. This is the reason why many old skool mechanics will come up to your car and hit the starter with a big fat hammer before trying anything else! - LOL - Whilst this is only about 0.5% of a chance and very rare, I cannot count how many times I have seen this fix a starter problem! Not always, but generally if this occurs your starter motor is on the way out as it increases in chance as your stator bearings wear out (which is why the big fat hammer HIT is so successfull - LOL)

If you hear no clunk - you have either:

    1. bad connection through terminals is still possible (take off terminals, clean and then retighten)
    2. fuse blown (check box)
    3. Engine seized (check by turning motor over by the crank pulley in neutral)
    4. starter has failed completely - (bypass to check first before replacing)

Unlikely to be anything else - use a systematic approach and rule out one by one based on the shortest possible time (as above) and a logical path of fault finding (as explained in first para - i.e. click, no click, clunk, no clunk.

You will win following the above.

Goodluck with the testing and hope its painless for you!

Is it an auto and not in park or neutral?

My earth terminal lug on the battery wasn't crimping the lead enough which caused this . My reds and stereo worked also but no crank .

My clock used to also reset every now and then .
