Hey mate , if your serious about driving around without your power steering , I recommend you disconnect your speed sensor ( that will cut your power steering ) just to see how you like it. ( you can gauge your speed by the RPM )

Personally I think no power steering in a 300zx is not a good idea ... but yeah it your car .
My first car , an old landcruiser and second car an old xe falcon didn't have it ... but they weren't sports cars either .
Just try it before you go removing it in case you change your mind :zlove:

    lol yeah maybe so...

I can tell retrozx right now it is shit as though ...
I drove mine around without power steering while sussing out the speed sensor prob.
Feels a lot harder to drive/steer than a car that was designed not to have it.

all we're trying to say is that you're trying to run a vehicle WITHOUT power steering on a regular rack. I may be wrong here, but how many true, nippy, sharp handling sports cars with similar suspension geometry to the zed DON'T have power steering? The power steering isn't to make it a girly, easy car. It makes it nimble, responsive and sharp...

but anyway, i'll get flamed too. Cheers

exactly, what you gain by weight saving is doubled back as a hard to handle slow n/a ,so whats the point

    Youre most welcome

Have to agree what the others have said about removing your p/s, i haven't done it and don't plan to, but I did at one stage own a Cordia turbo that had no power steering and even though it's *much* lighter than the zed, it was still pretty hard, and i'm not a small guy..

LOWZX wasn't trying to stir you, he has 2 NA zeds, and both have had a considerable amount of time and money spent on them, so blatantly stating that you have / will spend more on your car than anyone else on the forum is silly..

Out of curiousity, anyone know what the power loss from p/s is?

Personally i'm not trying to make my zed into a machine, but if I was i'd look at more meaningful mods like brakes / suspension / aftermarket computer and tuning to name a few...
