Hello everyone, My name is Michael and ive got a bit of a problem with my Z at the moment. A fair while ago my mother was driving it and it caught fire in the engine bay and it has incinerated the injector wiring and this thing (http://postimg.org/image/bj9ewuz1p/ if the link isnt working) here That thing in the red box has been burnt and the wire coming out from the back is completely disintegrated, so i need a new one but do not know what it is, could someone please help me? Also what injectors are a direct fit? My friend says that Bosch EV-1's will fit, is this correct? Thank you, Mick
The thing in the box is to do with idle control. Not sure of its actual name though. The injectors you want are for an RB30 powered skyline or commador, non turbo. While you are in there, replace all the efi hose and clamps with the best quality items you can find. It's also easier to change spark plugs while the intake plenum is off. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply, i thought it was something like the "Idle Air Control Valve" or something of the like. Any idea where i can get one? None of the wreckers around my area have got a ZX at all and dont wanna get me one part. Sweet as for the injectors. sounds like a good idea, thank you again Nick
Thats an arse. VG30et's are pretty thin on the ground at the best of times and could be a long search. If its a single wire solenoid type valve then it should be fairly straightforward to adapt something else for the job. If its 3 wire, it will be even simpler as bosch 3 wire solanoid valves are just thrown away. Worse case is to delete it and put up with slow idling/possibly some stalling when cold. I know where there are a couple of the items you want but unfortunately they will come with the rest of the engine and transmission attached............ along with the price. Best of luck anyway E
Mines just a N/A VG30E I'll have to have a look when I get home Deleting it might be a good option haha, it's never cold up here so it should be fine hey? It's not as simple and just pulling it off hey haha? Where are these items you speak of man?
Oh.. NA, the pix you posted was of a turbo motor. M8, those NA (VG30e) engines are laying in wrecking yards in their legions. Think Navara and Pathfinder for a start. E
Yeah sorry mate, I didn't have any photos of mine at the time of post. See I've looked everywhere and I can't find any at all! I'm in rocky and there's none, I went up to Mackay and down a bit too and just couldn't find one at all.
I have a 85 Z31 engine in my workshop, has a set of injectors in it which were obviously working well when it hit a tree, plus probably everything else you could want. pm me with full list of requirements
Bavaria and pathfinder's have a different intake manifold to the idle control, units aren't interchangeable
I have PM'ed you Martin, thank you for sharing that, hopefully ill be able to get my baby back on the road again I thought the Pathfinders etc were different, though it was worth a shot, ive been looking for months :/
http://www.zdriver.com.au/ aussie z31 forum....someone should have a unit they are willing to sell.....
Ahhhh.. thats my old zed in the photo lol. Poor old girl had the same problem. You're correct in assuming its the idle controller however the pathfinder had a log style manifold which won't have the same part. You could also try the mid-80s Nissan Maxima as it shared a lot of the same parts. I know Pacific Auto Recyclers have half a dozen Z31s sitting in their yard as that's where I bought most of my parts. Oh and a little hint, the injectors are the same as the RB30. So save yourself a load of cash and buy RB30 injectors instead of VG30 ones. The internal seals used to deteriorate if you use certain additives however serviced ones tend to not have this problem.
Oh sorry, it was just the first photo i could find on Google Images to show my problems. I am on their website hunting now thank you Tonto! I hope i can get what i need, my Z hasnt been on the road for over 7 months now, i wanna drive it! Would i be able to steal the RB30 injector harness too or just the injectors? Cause my harness is toast
The connectors should be the same. You can cut the connectors off and make your own harness or get an auto sparky to do it for you.
