so i bolted up my brakes today. new pads and rotors, ss braided line, same calipers. checked for leaks and there is none. now i have bleed them the way the tech article says to. but the pedal still goes to the floor. should i just bleed them again and see if that works or what?

    cheers

Keep bleeding mate, do the abs if yours has it aswell. If you want to come for a drive you can use my brake bleeder.

    still no good

we did a second and third bleed of the system. and the master cylinder. still no good. if you pump the pedal and hold it then you have plenty of pedal. but if you just put your foot on the pedal once, it goes straight to the floor. my old man reckons its the master cylinder. it is a second hand master cylinder.

can anyone tell me the difference between the non-abs master cylinder and the abs master cylinder. cause the one that was on the car when i got it, has a black cap and the second hand one i put on it, has a yellow one.

    cheers

How much fluid are you bleeding through each time?

If it's not holding pressure then there must be a leak somewhere.

Make sure all new lines are sealed and keep the resi topped up as you go, so it doesn't suck in air. Keep bleeding each line until there is no air. If you're bleeding the whole system, then why not grab a few bottles of DOT4.
If that fails and you are sus on the MC, then just buy a new one to be safe and repeat the process.
Sure you are bleeding it right? Pump the peddle, hold it down, bleed and close, pump again.
Eric's tool makes it a one man job, but for those with out that luxury, the above is the 2 man process on bleeding your brakes. ;)

    yeah.

im bleeding it as per the tech article. and there is no more air coming out of the lines. i have used close to 3 bottle of fluid to make sure of this.

are the calipers on the correct side (bleed nipple up)?
my zed is non-abs, the master cylinder has 4 outputs on it and has BM-44 casting on the side.

When you pump the pedal and hold it. does it stay there for a while or slowly go down?

MC kit it is cheap and easy to do, Baileys brake and clutch will have a kit there. They are on Mining st Bundamba.

    does it

matter that much if the front calipers have the bleed nipples on the bottom. cause that is where they are at the moment.

and if you pump it and hold it. the pedal doesn't go down

if you are chasing a hand, Im just around the corner. Quietly confident after doing my front pads in under 20min, in car. Hardest part was trying to fit the jack under the car. Ford Falcon jacking kit was all I needed to compress pistons as well :)

arent bleed nipples supose to be at top ? switch calipers over from side to side so they on top see how you go

Air rises to the top, so if the nipples are at the bottom, you won't be able to get the air out. Swap your calipers side to side.

my guide doesnt show specific shaping of brake hardline. Its a simple "U" shape from the flexible line to the caliper. Considering you had them on back to front, the hardline will need a bit of massaging to get back into original shape. Am free if you need a hand for a bit. 0408 060 480
