Hey guys just wondering if putting intake hardpipes on instead of the stock accordian pipes will give any gain?? Already running K&N extreme flow pod. Also while im at it do NA extractors/ headers give any gain?? And is anyone selling extractors for RHD or do i need to get custom?

The accordion pipes will give 0 gains whatsoever. There will be a mild decrease in the intake turbulence/flow, due to not having those bumps, but you won't feel any gain.

There is much debate as to whether or not NA extractors give you any noticeable benefits. They will show a gain on a dyno, but as to whether or not you can physically feel the difference is arguable. The cost:hp, however, is ridiculously high. You'd be better off saving up for a TT in many members' opinions.

That being said, I bought extractors for my car back when there was a group buy on them.

extractors definately make a difference on an NA that you can feel on the road.

as for the hard pipes, they really just look nicer.

    on a further note.

I had USA style extractors, they fit up, but the o2 sensor on the drivers side couldnt be fitted as the steering was in the way. all that needed to be done was plug up the hole and tap in a new thread for the o2 sensor. was going to get my friend to re weld it for me, But I ended up getting different extractors though as i decided i didnt want chromed extractors, Went with the TTz extractors, not sure if you can still get them though

2nd on all points, except the cost vs horsepower for headers.....agreed, they are expensive for the reasonably small gains, but when doing na power most things are poor value $ vs hp gain

I find that just by going on the feel on the road, good extractors give a bit more power + sound nicer all through the rev range though

Would be interesting to see what i would make on a dyno though.
I think it was about 3-4 years ago a short time after I got my car it made 123kw on the dyno, running like crap, missing because of bad PTU, running on safety with no VCT because of faulty DET sensor, + many other little problems which are pretty much all fixed + a few mods and changes.

I have been been happy with the feel of the car, and feel of the power change for every thing i have done so far, so i havnt put her back on yet to see what she can actually do =]

But you are seconding my point Jinxed :p ;)
Yes, the cost per HP gain is high. But to many the ratio of HP:$ regarding extractors is an acceptable one, myself included. That being said, I'm not sure if I would go through with it again but it's not something I regret :D

I agree that there is a definite difference in performance, post-extractor-install. All I said was that some will debate that statement with their own experiences.

ahhh my bad, i thought you were trying to say that it shouldnt be done becasue of the poor $ vs hp return....

i honestly think that a NA zed, with exhaust, extractors and pod filter is a very nice little combo.....good power, not huge but good, and enough to have fun with.....

I agree, and I do have fun with mine :D

can anyone link me to a set of RHD extractors as i dont really want to be welding and tapping my o2's in?

Good luck, if it was that easy to find a set we'd all have em ;)

Ive got extractors on my NA :p lol my NA has dual pod system, pulleys installed, extractors, a few CF stuff around the car and a few other things...only thing left i need to do is tune and rest of the exhaust without doing cams and doing up the engine internals...so pretty much got a almost maxed NA lol...

Was it cheap...not really...but me still having a yr and a half on my green p's i was like might as well have some fun...

Do i feel the extractors...hell yes!!! Lol i got megan racing extractors that i got for an auction for $120 delivered (i know lol) and they were LHD...it cost me $60 to get rid of the LHD o2 sensor bung and get it tig welded so it looks pretty and wont rust lol and get a new o2 sensor bung installed...another bonus is that my extractors use ford o2 sensors now as the zed ones dont fit lol so definitely happy lol

My opinion would be to get a set of LHD extractors and get it modded to fit which is the best option...i can get some cheap ebay type extractors and mod them and all up it wouldnt be that much because as far as i no RHD extractors are hard to find.

    Good luck,
    Abraham

I had a set of megan racing extractors aswell, never put them on as i didn't think the car needed them.

Really?? Once i put them on i could definitely feel it and is so much more fun to drive...and my car is loud already and once i put it in it is a lot louder lol...i personally think it is worth putting extractors in an NA if you going to keep it as NA or like me have no choice lol as im on my P's for another year and a half...so im going to enjoy it till i get off my P's and then get it TT'd 
