Your 100% right it is simple but

what also really pisses me off is when you try to leave a reasonably safe distance between you and the car in front to avoid being on the ass end of a pileup and some mofo's cut into the tiny gap you are trying to preserve.  Great bitch Evil Twin and how bloody true.

geez there is some pent up anger in this thread.

can't say it gets that bad in perth, but there are days sitting in peak hour where its ridiculous. the days i work out in midland, i sometimes go through the tunnel at about 20km/hr......... its an 80 zone!!

a friend of mine who's from overseas said he can't believe the number of people sitting in the right hand lane trying to get in front of everyone. can't remember where he's from, but he said that in peak hour, everyone just sits in the left lane...... there's no point trying to take over everyone cos then everyone else will do it.

... I agree that QLD drivers are amongst the very worst. :(

Had similar conversation with Aza during engine r&r earlier this week re M1 & Logan M/Way; ppl hogging RH lane the worst offenders IMHO.

Tuesday night, right foot kicked in to get clear of one suicidal Ford Ute (rego HRJ401) that passed between me & truck in 2 lanes just out of Toll gate plaza; after a replay of the stunt a few minutes later I got clear & stayed ahead... well ahead of him! Was actually hoping for a Q-car to pull me over and question my (slightly) excessive speed... hence the rego no. imprinted on brain.

aww guys, if u wanna experience really shitty drivers, come to Wagga guys, u'd just wanna get out and smack em in the head, for their driving   , also with the roundabout rules, for sum crappy reason, they always give way to their right hand side, while the actual, rules is first in best serve

    red32 You talkin' to me?

What REALLY PMO is when the driver in front, on a dual (2-way) carriageway, in an 80 or 100 kph zone, with no way for you to overtake, travels at 10-20 kph UNDER the limit! OK, you say,he/she is just being cautious, BUT when they get to the next speed restriction, keep travelling at the same speed.... in fact are now 10-20kph OVER the limit. AAAaarrrggghhhh! What doofusses!

    Apprently QLD drivers biggest complaint

    is ONLY tailgating!??!!!!? WTF?

    http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,20545200-1702,00.html?from=public_js

"TAILGATING is rated by Queensland road users as the most annoying driver habit, according to research by the state's peak motoring body."

Obviously everyone they interviewed are those same bastards that ARE responsible for all the traffic problems we face on our roads in Australia!

If your biggest problem with other road users is having people TAILGATE you then its more than likely because YOUR DRIVING TOO F***ING SLOW! I further bet that they on the same ones that sit on the RHS of the road too!

Let ME anwser the next survey on annoying driver habits!

People in melb can be booked for going 10km/h or slower (apparently) in certain lanes and if their is no reason to be going stupidly slow they can be booked because it is just as hazardous/frustrating as going fast to other drivers which is what the copper said on the radio once. I don't know if it's the law but I know many people who know others that it's happened to and if the copper wants to be an ass you can't argue with them and it is usually cheaper to accept their made up on-the-spot laws (so they can meet their weekly quota) and pay them rather than try to oppose them.

TAILGATERS SHOULD BE SENTENCED TO DEATH BY FIRING SQUAD...just thought i'd clarify that... I like to drive, and I like to drive well, so if the person ahead is going a little slower, then I am going to back off a little as well to keep a safe distance ahead...where is the logic in craming up their arse in a futile attempt to hurry them on their way...but it seems this is exactly what everyone behind me plans on doing judging by the way they crowd up behind there...although perhaps they are simply perving on my Zeds shapely behind. But if they persistantly crowd my personal space then i will do one of the following...1) Go slower just to stuff their day even more or 2) Give the brakes a tap as a warning...or if im really feeling like a prick a combination of the two.
The worst offenders I encounter are on the drive down to wollongong for uni...they will tailgate me on the straights (and if anything Im always driving slightly above the speed limit) pass me when they get the chance...speed off, only to be caught by me in the corners because their lack of ability or confidence or whatever necessitates that they brake through. All the while I have maintained a constant speed (cruise control :D). Close runners up are the sh*tty 4 bangers that overtake me down hills....only to stuggle to make it up the other side.

im led to beleive that is the case for most of Australia

However is rarely enforced as the TAC spend a fortune to get people to slow down and do the speed limit. While more people live in their own little world and drive willie nilly at 20 ks under the limit. Its as if they think there the only person on the road - invinsible? And the law supports them! If you run into the back of someone doing 60 in a 100 on the RHS of the road (or anyone at anytime for that matter) guess whos in the wrong - YOU! The only time your not in the wrong for running to the back of someone is when you are hit in the rear and forced X amount of meters (3-4meters?) into the car in front. This is common knowledge, but its a law the SUPPORTS IGNORANCE and leads to traffic congestion and other dangers all over Australia!

Anyone guessed what my pet hate is yet? :p

Evil old mate, you need to come to Sydney (the Tailgating Capital of the World).:eek::eek:
I have never driven on the major expressways of this city, without some asshole tailgating me at speeds up to 50kph ABOVE the speed limit.:eek: Most of these morons down here use their cars as some sort of weapon(and this holds true, right across the age span, 16 to 70).

If the person ahead of me is going speed limit or faster i do not tailgate, if they are going slower and it is right lane and there is a huge gap ahead of them, maybe just a lil bit, if they are going speed limit or faster i usually come to my senses and realise that i would like to keep my license and slow to a cruising speed and perve on the ladies

im the same as you Baz

and if all other road users drove in this fasion and didnt consistantly and unnessarilly change lanes all the time congestion wouldnt be half what it is in my opinion. It would make the whole drving experience less fustrating.

Chili, personally i dont have a problem with tailgaters. I keep my safe distance to the guy in front of me if he's doing the right thing and have on occasion dived off to the side of the road when i know the guy behind me isnt going to stop in time. But i have done that for the last 2 years because if someone was silly enought to run up the back of me i get new for old on my car. However the policy expired today :'( Now its 'market value'.
