OK. If this is not the right forum to post this I apologise but I am thinking this is a technical issue. I bought another Zed to take the motor and rebuild it but I wanted to start it to see if it runs. it has been striped to some degree so No intercooler connected No AFM connected No radiator hoses connected All else is there and connected. There is fuel at the injectors There is spark at plugs There is an injector signal from ECU and 12V at the injectors. Cranked it over and poured a little fuel into the throttle bodies but no fire up. Can it and should it start as is? MichaelZ
Is the electrical plug for the AFM still attached? try unplugging it and you might have more luck as it will go into limp mode. Otherwise you really need the intake hooked up properly to be sure. You might need to check and adjust the throttle position sensor too.
It should start, but you are taking a big risk without any coolant in it. Instead of using petrol in the throttle bodies, use Aerostart. You have problems if you have spark & it doesn't fire on Aerostart (or a similar product).
AFM is unpluged. That is what I thought. Limp mode should get the engine going. i will compression test it. there maybe some engine damage. i did not pay much as nothing was going. Thanks people. i will see what i find. MichaelZ
There's so many things that stop these engines from running its going to be hard to call definitively. Could be any combination of things but I'd probably start by putting the intake together and eliminating all vac leaks.
uas had a test rig setup from a while ago, had a starter with a modified bell housing.. you will need a afm connected theres no harm in running the engine for a couple minutes without coolant at all.. as long as it has oil and your not being stupid http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313522&highlight=uas+engine+test
Afm is all that I have not connected. Thank you. I knew the coolant would not be an issue for running engine a short time. It has oil and I found the AFM so I shall give it another go. Also the TPS wire was corroded and broke help so that would not have helped matters also. MichaelZ
