Thanks to the great tech article conversion done without any major drama. Reading overseas article + Z owner who did the conversion -flattened the ends of the LEDS with a Dremel which apparently spreads light + reduces the hot spots particularly on left Pod with auto climate. This seems very simple. Has anyone tried it? Can the LEDs be shaved like that. Not game to try on new one.

I grinded them using a bench grinder, worked well.

    my experience...

having done this myself (it was probably my tech article you read), unless you put it in multiple LEDs pointing in different directions, you will always get hotspots, even with flat top LED's. They just cant diffuse the light as much as is required. This is more so a problem in the climate control cluster.

    Cheers

It was your article I read+followed-Very good. About to do the instrument cluster. Trying to source the WLED's in AUS. as US requires min. purchase order+do not guarantee postage unless you pay $30US. I see that you originally used 4, then added 2 more. Has that been successful now that it has been done for a while.

I'm going to post this one more time.:(
warden_jp2002 on eBay can supply every type of LED replacement globe. The Wedge type globes for the dash/instrument cluster (4) are around $7 a pair. I have changed mine to "Spark Blue 5 LED Wedge Type" about 8 months ago, there are NO hotspots.

Decided to file the suckers with an old points file after practising on a blown bulb. It was dead easy + the material was very soft. Made a difference, + is simpler than making covers. Ordered bulbs from warden as suggested by Chili. They are cheaper than the single LED blues I purchased from Jaycar!! Blue I was told is the most expensive to manufacture. But 5 times the price of red, green, white??

red in the main spots, but blue in the back light bit at the bottom, did'nt take any shots yet, because the cluster is not going back in, untill the respray is finished. Nothing yuk about red, at all:p

cant wait to see this pics......i was thinking of painting my cluster a light orange to match my interior bits im planning to get....like the colour combo on the new commodores..... could you tell me how you are painting urs as dont you have to cover up the middle circle of your speed rpm ect where the needles are and paint around...or can you paint the whole thing somehow by removing the needle...

also i saw that in jedi cluster he had a purple line(not redline) so to overcome that problem may be incorporate a red led covered so that the light only shines on the redline... well thats what im deciding to do in a week or so...

post up your pics beaver....interested to see....cheers
