saw this on the american forums & thought I'd bring it to peoples attention over here, clicky

I'm sure many will recall the drama a little while back when coz copied the 300degree fuel rails, well now z1/ams are selling their own version/copy. Ironically under the name 'z32 innovations'...

vuk is promoting these in the current 'ams summer parity sale' thread in fsbb by the way.

it really is time to stop supporting these 'innovators'.

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

    why?

so one company can reap the rewards, F that. im all for it, without a market how will prices decrease, the seller can make a premium because theres no competition.

meh.. i say good on vuk lol.

dude they 'reap the rewards' because they went through all the r&d to create something that previously wasnt available!
300degree have to recoup their r&d costs but 'z32 innovations' have to recoup the postage cost to send the 300degree rails to china, oddly though the z32 innovations rail is only $25 cheaper than the original, who's over charging the market???

It's odd really because ams are actually bringing out some truely innovative products for the r35 & have a great rep because of it but with the z32 its just copies, border fuel rails, 300degree fuel rails, water pump pulleys (complete with the originals 2mm offset proplem!), manifolds, the list goes on.

also if you read through the yanky thread you'll find some of z1's internal instructions on how to produce products that look exactly like other products ;)

People need to be aware of this stuff so they can make their own decisions, if you want to buy copies to save $25 good for you but a lot of other people dont.

also curious why your post changed bb.

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

    mm fair point.
sure someone will care, im not looking for a rail so it doesnt affect me that much.
nor working for 300degree so im no losing money.

meh! how do we know ams didnt make these first, put them in hiding and 300degree copy and release first :O

bahah, im kidding. poor form ams. make them cheaper :p

I developed the first Water pump OD pulley commercially available.

I even sold about 70 or so the the USA, then copies appeared all over.
You don't see me crying about it.
Unless you have some legal copyright or patent stopping production of competing product, then nothing can be done.

Now, just because a product is entrenched in a market, doesn't mean further R&D can't make the product better.
Sure, if a product is "identical", then that's pretty low, and you can make a decision of conscience regarding your purchase. If it is similar but improved, maybe it's worth a look :)

These are distributed by AMS INC. and not made by us and are part of the PARITY Sale putting them at $425 AUS!

The 'Z32 INNOVATIONS' brand is used by a local company/Z member who wishes to remain anonymous. We feel that the product is a good alternative to the current offerings especially from price stand points and were in a position to offer these along with the other competitor units within our inventory.

We are constantly approached by consumers and parts suppliers to offer and carry their lines. We will strive to offer a large selection of products and variety where the customer can decide what they desire based on their current needs.

Competition in the end is great for the consumer and this is the free market system plain and simple.

No need for heightened drama as that forum does a great job catering to it.

For the short sighted consumer, sure.

Market forces, objectives and history in a free market indicate evidence to the contrary. Im surprised you would make such a short sighted comment or hold such a short sighted ideal.

Next time you go to travel in a plane, make sure you buy the most expensive ticket from the first person who make the seat available and dont look at any of the cheaper seats on the market. Or else you will be a 'short sighted consumer'

Next time you goto buy a car, its gotta be a Ford! It doesnt matter that people outside USA can do it better, faster, cheaper for the same 4 wheeled automobile...Else you be a short sighted consumer.

Next time you go buy a jumper, make sure its hand woven by someone who shaved a sheep themselves! Because nobody is allowed to discover better, cheaper and more innovative forms of production.. else you be a 'short sighted consumer'.

The only short sighted consumers ive ever met are the ones spending more and recieving the same. The market moves up and on and gets on with business.
