Well i was wondering where all my coolant was going. Turns out Ive done a headgasket. Typical bubbles in the coolant, and a very slight film of oil or petrol.

    Now i question my sanity.
    As the car stands.

The interior need to be fixed.
    The paint needs respraying.
The Headgasket needs to be fixed.
The turbo inlet needs to be fixed.
    The trans is fubar.
    The diff is fubar.
    The coipacks are craked.
The trim is in bad shape.
    The dash is peeling.

I feel like parting it out and buying my cousing s14.
The only problem is that my new 18" wheels wont fit.

My two biggest hurdles is the trans and diff.
It just seems like so much money and time, espicaiily considering i can buy a working car for such little money.

it's sad to say, but if you want the s14 i'd take that and use all the good bits from the z32 on it. Like the diff, brakes etc. Pretty sure you can use the hubs? Then you possibly could use those wheels. Or just buy another cheap zed, plenty around at the moment

    Sad times.

Given the current price of Zeds on the market, a car with those problems is too far over the line to consider fixing all of that. That doesn't mean you need to think about a S14.

Part your Zed out, buy a 15 year old Corolla as a daily driver and start looking for a decent Zed. You will be back in the land of the Gods in no time.

Step 1. Park it in garage.
    Step 2. Buy a $400 corolla
Step 3. Turn your tired z into a pristine beast over time. No rush.
Thats what I'm doing anyway, not feasible for everyone and will cost alot of money, but if you really want your zed, then it's well worth it. Just my 2c

Sounds like youve had a really bad run, much worse than me. Sorry to hear, truly.

Its only the time to do it. I have a set of oem gaskets here.
The problem is transport. Such a pain in the ass.

I might buy the s14, fix my car, sell s14. Its only labor. Worry about the trans and diff when they explode.

Dont worry about the paint and trim. Its not that bad.

I imagine if i play my cards right i might even make money on the s14. If i get if for the right price, but knowing me i wont.

Guess ill have to sleep on it.

Its pissing me off. I was wondering what would go wrong this week. Such is life.

    Cometic. 1.6mm

I will find out for sure if its the headgasket. But i can smell coolant in the exhaust.

Either way i have to pull the engine to fix the turbo leak.

But im in a lot better mood today, it was just a bit of a shock yesterday.

Im going to spent some more cash on a new gearbox.

And i have a load of parts on the way. So im not really going to get rid of this problem. I should have the heads off this weekend, depending on my thumb. I just have to pull through. Its not like i dont have the money. I just want to save for a house :(.

Hopefully it never got to hot. Fingers crossed. The alloy might be rooted, i do have another set of heads but the same thing happened to them as well.

The curse of the VG strikes again, If only the coolant knew its place.

With the stock headgasker the c/r will be higher again, i would imagine its getting close to na levels. But it does make good tourque. and boost comes on fast. On the highway i was hitting around 6psi at 2500. With 28r turbos.

    Shall see how it goes.

Im actually thinking about going to solid lifters. With big cams, but i wonder now that ive shaved the head 1mm if it will fit without hitting the pistons.

Hmm 9k here i come, not that i need it. Its just an ambition.

At the very least harder springs.

Be very careful taking it apart. Check all the head stud tensions before you undo them. Keep a look out for anything that may have caused the failure. You need to be sure of what happened before you assemble it again.

I checked it out again tonight.

There seems to be far less bubbles this time. It could have just been an airlock. How big of an airlock can you get?.

I might jack it up tomorrow and see if i can get all the air out, i will then take it for a drive, no reason to jump to conclusions.

Along with a pressure test and co2 test.

    Fingers crossed.

Well i couldn't cancel my order with coz because he shipped it the day before, so im sticking with this for now.

I may as well as get a new g/box. I dont think its worth the hassle getting mine reconditioned. As for the diff i might just fill it with grease.

Might have to go back to stock with the headgasket. It seems its a real problem with cometic, some say thay are ok, others have problems.

They recommend pulling them apart and coating the middle layers with sealant.

Shall see how it goes. Im hoping its something else i wouldn't be that lucky.
