is this what i think it is

Hey guys , is this a factory "light up" 300zx rear pannel .
In the other photo ,it has a buzzing coming from the inverter or what ever it is??
Doesnt light up the pannel but.......

Yep thats a gen light up panel
Check all ur connections first ,if no fix
sounds like ur EL tape needs replacing.

The inverter normally goes before the EL panel.

I my experience it is the panel that goes before the invertor. I have two here that have died.

 

Just get the specs off it and make ur way to Jaycar for a replacement

yeah mine looks just like the first light up one .
When u look closely with a torch, it looks clear inside the writing, not just flat.
pluss the wires and inverter give it away i think.

Gunna change the inverter first, if that doesnt make it work ,,,,, well ill have to seperate the back and check for dry solder joints i spose.

Yep i ve got 2 to pull apart for a rainy day.
Ive removed mine incase it gets damaged, these gen light up panels are not produced any more

My car had the light up 300zx on mine...but one day someone backed in to my car and cracked the rear lights...so i replaced them... now i have a inverter in the car that makes a noise and no light... one day i will put the strip back in my new one or just buy a new strip and put that in....one day.

 

Well i tested the inverter today and its outputting 188volts.
So the el pannel must have had it .
Time to pull it apart and check for dry solder joints , or replace el strip i spose.
