I'm looking at upgrading my injectors in line with several other mods and I was wondering which brand has proved to be the least troublesome?

I'm looking at the 550cc sized injectors.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

nismo 555s. plug and play. no stuffing around with trying to find seals that wont leak fuel. good for over 400 RWKW with supporting mods.

Greenline.jp always seems to have decent prices. Just check the usual sites and compare exchange rates, aswell as shipping costs.

As what Chili has suggested but go the 740's gives u a little headroom.
Bonus is the full year warrenty(don't get that with nismo ) and if they do stuff up u will get a full new set flow matched after returning the old ones ........bonus

Checking out the price of these, for the 550 on a 89-93 model z32 you will also need to buy the fitting kit which really only provides a saving of around $100 (compared to nismo 555) by the time they get to Aus. It would have been a great option 6 months ago when the Aus dollar was good.

However I'm curious about the adaptor kit and if it will work with any injector sutable for a series 2 z32 and if it affects the spray pattern. I'm guessing the injector will sit higher up and therfore have the possibility of the same issues as other rail/mod kits that have been developed to fit the later model injectors (non pintle style) that have a wider spray end up spraying onto the port walls.

Has anyone used this kit with success?

    Injector upgrade PITA....

fitting larger injectors is always going to be a hassle in one way or another

The amount of work involved will depend on the injector selection. Here is a brief rundown (IMHO) covering most of the suggestions already provided (assuming you have an early model Z).

Nismo 555 (early version) : definately the easiest. A straight drop in with only a retune necessary. The down side is that there seems to be some reliabilty problems with these in the US.

Nismo 555 (later version) : Seems to have overcome reliabilty probs associated with earlier version and reported to flow more. Downside is that you need to use later model fuel rail which means machining of lower plenum.

Sards : many sards available but would recommend using twin spray version. Cheaper price. Downside is that collars are needed to fit Z32 (extra $$$) and lots of grinding needed to upper plenum. VERY fiddly and time consuming.

Deatschwerks : cheaper price. Downside is that you need a fitting kit (extra $$$), and there's not much anecdotal evidence available regarding function or reliablity. Also, to the best of my knowledge, they are "remanufactured" injectors.

As I said earlier, upgrading injectors (of any description) is a PITA but what did you expect.............welcome to the world of zed modification :bash:

Sounds like BS to me. I just grinded the caps yesterday, and will see about grinding the upper plenum today, but it sounds like bs to me. I don't think I'll need to grind the upper plenum at all. Installing the SARD 650's took about 45 minutes, and that includes grinding time. Almost hassle-free if u ask me...

Re : Sounds like BS to me

Yes, your probably right "Sounds like BS to me"....... after all, your experience extends all the way to having bolted a set of Sards into a fuel rail

I've only got two zeds actually running Sard injectors, so what the f@ck would I know

Go ahead genius, just bolt the plenum back on and start her up :D

I got Sard 650cc with viton orings cost bout 800$ when i got em from greenline, then another 200$ for the correct collars from HI OCTANE PERFORMANCE in NSW. They are quick. you post up your injectors and they fit the correct collars and send em back. No complaints. No fuel leaks, no in cabin smells, and best of all they are not maxing out still in my car which is a daily 300rwkw+.

You've got 2 sets of Sards running, did you install them yourself or did you have someone else do it for you?

If you did it yourself, then you do have more experience than me - care to share what all the drama is about? It seems like a piss in the park so far...

Don't listen to the experience of others....

because it seems like you're an expert already

Caps on oem injectors "just" clear the upper plenum, so what do you think will happen when Sard collars are also fitted under those caps ? :bash:

    Gee is that all. FFS

Like I said, I sorted that issue out in 45 mins, and that includes drinking beer, chatting with a mate and installing the injectors into the rail.

The way that you were carrying on, is as if there was a drama involved somewhere  It's a piss in the park mate!

A benchtop grinder does make it a lot easier to do nice clean grinds on the caps - they're cheap, about $50 from bunnings

Here's an illustrated guide for you:
You grind them down to about half thickness, and then countersink a bolt into it.

You don't need to touch the upper plenum at all.
