How do I test if a injector connector is working?

The resistance on the injector seems consistant with known working injectors. But how can I check the connector is not the problem?

You should have power at one pin -check with a multi meter.

The other pin should have a pulse signal -check with a logic probe.

Given the extent to which you've been playing with it lately you may wish to check that the firing order is correct.

Definately is nothing wrong with the firing order.

Apart from no.2 the engine is running really smooth for only 5 cylinders..

Pulled the coilpack connectors 1 by 1 and is a distinct difference on all other cylinders.

one of my first jobs was for an electronics engineer. Rewiring a harness is not beyond me.

I appreciate the advice but the problem is with the 1 injector. And I didnt rewire any of the injector connectors.

How do I test for a pulse signal?
or is there another way to test without a logic probe?

    Use a small wattage globe.

I would first put 12V direct to the injector to see if it is not jammed. Just flick the wire and just pulse the injector after disconnecting the injector plug.

If the injector clicks then place a small wattage (a instrument cluster light will do) across the injector plug without connecting to the injector. then either crank the motor over while observing the light or remove the CAS and turn it and check for the light.

If the injector clicks but light does not work then do the checks in the FSM for Diagnostic Procedure 34 on page EF &EC 140.

I am assuming you have checked for spark.

    Good hunting.

    Very helpfull Michael..

Yeah we put a spark plug against the plenum to gtound it and definately was producing good spark at the tip.

Hooking 2 wires 1 to each of the battery terminal and touching the injector it definately clicks

The bulb I rigged to 2 wires didnt illuminate when put in the connector but cutting the connector off and putting it straight on the injector wires worked.

    Problem solved!
    It was the connector.

    Thanks guys

    Diagnosis does work.

Well done. It helps if one has some electrical knowledge and also how a particular system works. I find the FSM is very helpful but only to persons with technical knowledge. After all the service manual was written for technical people so the jargon would not be helpful to non technical people.

My hat goes off to weekend mechanics who come to grips with the FSM.
