Having just installed a new steering wheel (inc. cruise control boss kit), I find myself puzzled as to why my indicator switch will no longer disengage, turn off or otherwise deactivate itself after turning the wheel? (I have used a number of different ways to say 'turn off' for the sake of future searches, as I could not find anything during my searches...) If anyone can shed some light as to why this may be, as well as provide steps that I can take to remedy it I would be most grateful.
There's a little pin that triggers a cam type thing within the indicator thingy. My last hub came with one, but never really worked well. I currently have a S15 wheel and that doesn't flick it off either. I just do it the old fashioned way and use my finger
Ahh, I see. I knew there'd be something like that I'll see if it bothers me and if it does I'll see if I can mock something up to simulate it if I can be bothered. (Doubtful) I'm sure I'll get used to it PDQ. (When using the new wheel my pinky finger is pretty close to the indicator stalk anyway )
If in doubt just get a thick nail or better a peice of brass bar (circular) or roll pin and align the back of the boss kit up with the cam. Than drill a hole into the boss, insert brass bar or roll pin and done. The boss in my 720 lined up with the cam, but just wasnt long enough. Mine was a roll pin to which i just punched out a little further and solved the problem. Option two would be to get little bits of string that you can attach to your dainty little finger, than loop over the indicator stalk so that you could than just tweak it off when you twinkle your finger.... spirit fingers tom. spirit fingers.
Ahh Chris. You always amuse me. You should catch a flight down to Adelaide and come to the drags on Sunday!
Well played sir, that did make me laugh. However, i dont think i would enjoy being caught seen with Adelaidians. However i would fit in well hiring a rent a car from the airport, after all its a commodore event isnt it?
I never actually noticed this happening, i think my S15 wheel does disengage the indicators. Will have to check and see.
