I would say get out as quickly as possible, as you know what they say about melbourne "It's Great, I mean organised crime has to be based somwhere in Australia"

    Go to......

Chapel Street for some night life, cafe, bars, etc
    Lygon Street for Italian food
    Lt Bourke for Chinese food
Kings Street for strip bars, etc
Spring Street for Parliament House (oldest one in Aust - worth a look)
Spring Street for Hard Rock Cafe (if that's your thing)
Various gardens in the city (it is the Garden State)
Southbank along the Yarra River for trendy cafes, etc (pricey too)
MCG for tour of the ground, etc
Crown Casino to gamble and lose money
Historic tram ride (is free) will take you around the city and point things out, which you can go back to later if you like it. You may want to do this first. It's an ancient looking red-rattler of a tram with City Loop written at the front (I think)

This is a start and most are walking distance for you, or a short taxi/tram ride.

    Enjoy!!

    The Docklands precinct...
The little alley ways in Melbourne are also interesting...
There's also a bus that takes you around the major sites of Melbourne for free too...I think it's called the "Tourist Bus"...

    Enjoy your stay.
