Hi Guys, For some reason when I start up my 300, it takes a while before it starts. I mean I turn the key in my ignition and I have to hold it there for a while before the car starts. Do you guys know what kind of problems I'm having and what should I do. Could it be my starter motor or spark plugs?. Cheers,
Need a clearer description of the problem When you hit the key - 1. Does the starter motor turn over straight away at a normal cranking speed and then it is a while before the engine fires?
Check for START signal to ECU Pin 43, black/yellow wire, should show battery voltage when cranking. If not, then check for connector & pin damage at rear of IGN switch possibly caused by alarm/immob. installers ... common fault
thanks for your help guys yeah when i turn the key, the starter motor responds straight away at normal crankling speed, but it just takes a while and i have to step on the accelerator a few times before the engine actually ignites......
Worth checking the fuel side of things as well Car should fire-up without use of throttle. Its possible that the lag in starting is a problem in getting fuel up to the injectors. Also have a look at online manual EF&EC p42 and p71-76
