It will be fairly obvious whether you have an aus or jap zed.
My jap zed has a jap looking vehicle id plate in front of drivers side headlight, jap writing behind the drivers side fuse panel, and a sticker written in jap between the targas showing a man sticking his head out the roof with a cross through it.
Mine also has the green import plate

I dont think the green plate applies if it was a private import

If your speedo goes to 260 kph then it's an Australian release. If the fog light only operates the rear right red light in the bar, then it's an Ausspec. Pic shows an Aus spec rear bar. It has red foglights in the rear (red arrow) - only the RHS one lights up - like an Excel. Jap spec has lights in the side panel indicated by green arrow and no lights indicated by red arrow. If rear bar fits a full sized numberplate then it's likely to be an Aus Spec.

Also, earlier Aus spec Zeds have AC not climate control.

Cras imported under the 15 year rule do NOT get a green plate. In fact, they do not get a plate at all.

Oh, and to be an Aus Spec, it will be a N/A 2+2.

    Cheers,

    Peter

if the zed is TT then its an import, only Zeds that came to AUS were NA 2+2, unless of course those turbos are aftermarkt, but unlikely when u can buy it turbo

    And my bro's zed

is j-spec with an aus spec front bar, as in it doesn't have the driving/fog lights, it has the indicators instead. So there is abit of variety amongt them all... you could have parts from either version on yours for example

    A Few Clues...

    - All Twin Turbo's in Australia are imported.
    - The VIN Plate will be in Japanese.
    - The Fuse boxes, Targa Roof, Side of Glove Box, Tyre Placecard, Engine Spec Card and Sun Visor stickers will all be in Japanese.
    - Speedo will have a 180kph limit and will have a speed chime @ 105kph.
    - Digital Climate Control unit is standard.
    - Any Zed post 1996 will be an import.
    - Rear Bar will only accomodate the Japanese Square shape license plate; Aussie plates wont fit.
    - "Nissan Fairlady" sticker on the rear spoiler.

And my own personal favourite...the real way to tell if you have an imported Zed...

    - When you pull the interior out, you'll find several Astro Boy condom wrappers...

Unless my Zed was a limited edition... ;)

    Cheers

Damn it I didn't find any of those!, I did find some japanese receipts under the interior boot peices though. But alas I don't have the Nissan fairlady sticker on the rear spoiler either. Was it just the later models that had the fairlady sticker or just certain batches? Also what year model did they move the seat belt from the door onto the side pillar? My 93 2 seater's seat belt is on the door, and my bro's later model 93 2+2 has the seat belts on the side pillar. More info from guys with differnt models appreciated.

    cheers

    Yup, that's another one...

Aus specs had the seat belt on the B Pillar, while J-Specs have it on the door.

A lot of Zeds have the "Fairlady" sticker removed because they peel over time. Your's probably got removed for this reason. :)

yup mine was a browny bronze one, replaced it with a silver one now

    Does that apply

To all models? As in all jap zeds have the seat belt on the door from 89 to 96? Because I'm positive my bro's tt manual zed is jap but it has seat belts on the B pillar. Maybe it was changed for the import rules?. Mine was imported here in 97, when it was 4 years old.

    Z-Force SHIFT_Charizma

Yeah, unless they changed it in '93 in Japan.

But I'm pretty sure all the Aus-Specs had the seat belt on the B Pillar. And since the majority of imported Zeds around are 90 models, they have the seat belts on the door.

Or else your brother might of had it changed to comply with Australian rules. But the thing is they don't require that change now...I didn't have to change mine over.

    Cheers
    Rob.
