hey guys, my horn has never worked, i have a after market steering wheel so i pulled her apart, and alas wiring everywhere... anyone have anything to tell me to help, had the same problem etc. i checked in tech and the manual but absolutly nothing on it
well arent you lucky, the standard zed horn sounds like the roadrunner "meep meep" ,do what i did, throw it in the bin and put a decent airhorn on the car lol
is there a wiring diagram or something so you can know where what is supposed to be, i undone a mass mess of shitty tape, and there was something not even plugged in... a bunch of wires going into a dead end, with a yellow one loose off it with a clip on the end, looks like it was supposed to be clipped near the boss kit. but its got no power to it anyway... only reason i want the horn is so cops cant get me anyway.
mmm ok well i checked the fuse in the bay, was blown. replaced and used a power tester on the yellow clip wire i found... made the horn go a few times... but blew the ffuse, so now shes just popping fuses, any ideas?
Aftermarket steering wheels normally only have wiring 1 connector, whereas the stock Zed wheel has 2. You will need to ground the 2nd wire to the steering column... perhaps crush it under the main bolt that locks in your steering wheel... or better yet solder it. When you press the horn, you should then close the circuit.
My horn doesn't work either.. It's up there on the to-do list somewhere.. you don't realise how much you need a horn til it's not there anymore..
hold on... just realised what you meant... thats not the problem... back track, the immediate steering wheel setup is no problem, a 4 year old could understand its setup.... the problem is baaaack, near the steering collum, i think the other wires bundled are for the cruise controll? and one wire coming off this bundle is seperate, a yellow one with a clip.
Circuit diagram here: http://users.tpg.com.au/adslye2x/circuitdiagram%20gif.gif The horn is in the top row of components. As I read it, the horn relay and horn switch are connected to a wire coming from the cruise control. The horn switch then goes to ground. The horn relay is also connected to pin 9 of time control unit, power, and the actual horns. But yeh, check the link, and you should see how it works. I'll see what else I can dig up for you. Edit: EL-89 Horn Relay wires: Green: to the horns. Green/White: to E112 engine harness. Green/Black: to Fuse block 10A. Also check EL-101 for ASCD wiring diagram which shows connection to horn wiring. Hope it helps :zlove:
hmm so far i dont think any of these diagrams are helping lol... the spot where im stuck, its not where the steering wheel connects to the wire from the steering collum, but the wire that connects to the steering collum.. if that makes sence, the wire connects to the steering collum, then the steering collum has that rotation joint for the signal to pass through, then there is a piece of wire that connects to the steering wheel... my problem is at the start, whats supposed to be wire up to where? when i see that horn diagram makes me think 3 wires should be attached to the collum, power+high+low, correct? if anyone can tell me what colour these wires are, would help heaps, so far i noticed yellow is power, so now to find high and low!
horn woes Could it be that everyone is forgetting about the wire that connects to the hicas locator pin? I too have a sports wheel, but never had a problem with the original horn, except for the fact, it was pathetic, and had to be kneeling down in front of the car, to hear it. Have replaced it with some, " HELLO, I'M HERE", air horns, but now i keep blowing fuses, if i press it for a longer than normal period
