So i got my car back from the mechanics today.
All happy driving home after not driving my zed for 2 weeks.
When all of a sudden my revs go ape shit and hit about 5000rpm.
I thought the pedal was stuck so put my foot under and pulled but nothing.
Then red light and still trying to break whist the car excellerates. come so close to running up the ass of a lancer, so hit it into nuetral, when the light goes green i went around the corner pulled up and stopped.
I called my mechanic and he came down to look at it. and of course it doesnt do it when he gets there. but still im a little freaked. No idea what it was that caused it. its as if the throttle cable got sticky when i drove or something.

Anyone care to shed some light.

Its been fine since though. have been driving it tonight with no problem at all so really confused.

Thanks in advacne anyone who can help.

    Jack

Yeah me and my mechanice both looked at that and it seemed fine. but like i said when he came it didnt do it anymore. so maybe it was just sticky.

I can tell you exactly what happened.

have a look a the two steel pipes that come out of the rocker covers and go down under the throttle linkages. You will find they are loose and slip out of the rocker cover and jam the throttle open.

Sooner or later they ALL come loose. Glue it back in with JB weld.

    2nded...

also lube up the entire throttle linkages/cable with inox or similar lubricant.

PS: You don't have one of those mesh inserts on the centre throttle cover do you? Ifso, piss it off..

And use a zipe tie to lol mine has been there for ages lol took me ages to figure out why it was locking up but do what tekie said and that should fix it.

Just look for what moves when you move the throttle and have a look if there is any war marks on anything that is close to the throttle bodys and throttle body ajusters.

    NONE !!

signature performance. but not for much longer if they had something to do with it. they are usually fine. but they have been slack lately telling me they have a problem car up on the hoyst. even though they only needed to do little things that didnt require it to be lifted up.

This is not their fualt mate. These pipes are pre screwed up by nissan. What happens is that you put the lower turbo inlet pipe back on. And you try to get the rubber hose onto the pipe properly so you push it on as far as it goes.

Then you put the rst of the hoses back on. and the rubber pipe pulls the steel pipe out of the rocker cover cause its under tension.

You have to glue the pipe back in.

That pic is correct. There are two steel pipes that enter the rocker cover and come loose pulling out and jamming the throttle.
