This has to be a nightmare....buyer wanted to get the car taken to north QLD from sydney via transport...the car in the 3 years we have had it has had no gearbox/ clutch problems....now the car went on to the truck fine but it couldnt be driven off due to the car not moving in the selected gear when lifting the clutch up???? had a talk to the mechanic and he says most probably the clutch is gone or could be the clutch plate has disintergrated....cause of it could have been that the transporters were riding the clutch when putting it on the truck, and since dad never done that sort of thing the mechanic says that the stress out of no where could have destroyed the clutch......any other theories???

now the problem is the car need to get to the new owner in townsville and has to depart brisbane like wednesday/ thrus morning.....can anyone check it up for me....

just to be fair im planing to split the cost with the buyer, still have to tell him as i only found out an hr ago.....anyone help me do this in the cheap??????any recommeneded places and how much is the costs?????

    cheers

Splitting the cost is very honourable of you.

Here's something out of left field. Did they check the clutch master cylinder for fluid? You know its tucked away down there and non Zedifiles might miss it.

The reason I mention this as a couple of times I was thinking about transporting a Zed and each time the transport companies specified a minimum 100mm free space under the sill panels as a prereqiuisite to agreeing to carry the car (they said you have to be able to stand a Coke can under there). If it is less than that there is a high likelihood of the car bottoming badly and getting damaged underneath when loading onto the car carrier.

The clutch slave cylinder is down under there, and the bleed nipples on some cars point down as well.

    Just a thought.

thanks for the speedy replies guys....yeh i had to pay around $400 more just because most places said they wouldnt do it as they need around 6inch clearance and our zx is 5 inch at the front... I have a feeling they may have scraped underneath, even though they said it should be fine and they will folklift it on, however if they were to folklift it then why did he say that they had to "roll" the car in neutral off the truck as it wouldnt go into gear???

Forklift ? WTF Im pretty sure they didn't use one of them when my car was transported down to Stef and yes it was lower than the 100mm.

I'd definatly recommend getting it towed to Fleet's workshop. He is very good at diagnosing issues like this.

Haha, but they rang me up and said the car was so low and were worried the front bar (which was held by 4 bolt) would fall off if they tried to get it onto the transporter. I told them not to worry as the next stop was the panel beaters anyways.

    Yeah

Thats what I was thinking, Probly broke clutch slave cyl.

The 4 bolts was deliberate so the bar could flex a little ;) (also lazyness lol)

10 years ago , we shipped a customers car by transporter a 1970 dodge challenger 426 hemi engine six speed manual full rebuild, the fuse was pulled from the fuel pumps so it couldn't be started , upon arrival in darwin the car was not at the front on the top deck anymore (at the back lower deck) it now started had rubber up the rear quarter panels and a bent exhaust valve . But they didn't drive it! P.s after the valve was repaired on the next drive the clutch died also brand new .But they didn't drive it! (nothing revs like somebody else's car !)

dam you must of been pissed......anyways hopefully its just the clutch cylinder, talked to the new owner and his like he doesnt want these guys to take it anywhere...just straight to his place where he will get it fixed.....its funny coz these guys were around 400-$500 more expensive than other huge companies, but they were one of the only ones that would transport it........

    thanks for the input guys....
