I know this is not a complicated technical problem but... I ordered some leather boots and handles from Interior Innovations and went to put the new one on. However, it did not fit properly. As you can see in the pictures the lip is too long making it not slide back far enough (you can see where the old handle went back to compared with the new one by the rust line) so that proper operation of the E-brake cannot happen. My finger has to uncomfortably and unsafely push right in, further than the handle top and into the recess rather than stopping at about the top of the handle. This is not satisfactory and have emailed Khalid but has not gotten back to me yet and has said I am the first person that has had this issue. So my question is, any suggestions and how have other people on the forum installed these so they sit correctly?

According to this thread http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303739 (see around post 15) he had the same issue although didn't mind, it was suggested that the metal ring that is inserted in the top was not removed however, my car never had that piece to begin with.

    This is how it sits

And this is the lip comparison (new one is about 3 times as big), it stops the handle from sliding any further back on the handbrake (new leather one is on the left)

You can see how far I have to push it in past the top here:

    Hi Core,

I also have this issue with Khalid's hand brake cover.
My dad recently installed it in my TT, and it doesn't fit close to how it should.
The tip of the button is just inside the handle.

It wasn't a concern at the moment, as it will be swapped over to his N/A in about 3 weeks time, and he was going to figure out how to fit it properly then.

Mine fit fine length wise but the top end of it always looked shitty. Too loose around the button.

I have one that was a real prick to put on but it did fit after using a fair bit of force and wriggling :)

Try pulling it off and drop it in a bucket of freshly boiled water. Let it soak for 5 minutes then push it on all the way.

So is the handle made to be pushed down more so that the top of the metal is flush with the top of the handle i.e. past the lip? Makes no sense from a design viewpoint to have the lip there if this is the case, it would make it bulge at the top and look ridiculous rather than acting as a natural stop preventing the handle from moving further down. Will try this with more vigour and see how it looks but am not impressed atm. Are there any alternatives cause I have switched my boots and gear-knob to leather and the oem handle would look a bit out of place or are all the handles basically manufactured by the same people? As in carcraze.com.au sells the same as interior-innovations?

I had the same issue with the hand brake cover. I had to cut away & grind down the lip with a sharp knife & some sandpaper. Fits alot better now
