haha you mean you 15" sub thats at your rear....and that 4x4 speaker at the front and matty...he knows i love his install...he knows im kidding
Yeah i realised it was a bit of s**t stirring! God damn you boys have some tight stereo installs. I'd love to have gone all extravagant but truth be told, i had the sub sitting there doing nothing and thaught i'd keep a little bootspace for the targas! Im happy with it though, looks nice and neat when you see it in the flesh.
ahhaha well you got that 15" hole in your backside when i rapped you a new asshole in that drag with my TT AUTO mr na boy matty....did you just make the sub box out of wood and vut to shape? how have you fixed it to the car...or does it sit there?
Yeah just made it out of MDF and carpeted only the top and side faces. Its not screwed down, it wedges in there fairly tight. Im still thinking up a way to secure it properly. The volume is smaller than what its supposed to be for that sub, but it sounds ok. I used sikaflex to caulk all the seams too and it ended up being very airtight.
You didn't happen to have the dimensions handy? (i'm just interested in the curves on the corner of the boot... if you have a sketch or anything that'd be great) Does it go all the way down to the boot floor or does it sit above the carpet? If it goes all the way down to the boot floor, approx how deep is it? I'm just trying to get a rough idea for the shape of my box I want to make... It's all in my head atm but I'm thinking fibreglass...
WHen you guys did these sub installs... did you have any rattles you had to source down a get rid of? example the hatch etc...
I had no vibration issues and it will make my hair on the back of my neck vibrate! It sits on the carpet, 16mm mdf base, rest is 12mm. I used the boot carpet for an initial template, made 2. For the top one i raised it untill it touched, trimmed where it was touching and kept doing that untill i had the right height. The sub has 5mm clearance at the bottom of it. The volume is smaller than what was specified but it sounds great and is actually quite sharp and punchy. I can sketch if you need but not sure how much that will help you sandeep. Cheers
use wadding from spotlight, same stuff but cheaper bracket inside the box matty to hold it down ,i got a pic if you want one
Nahh just made sure it was sealed really well, why is that stuff worth putting in? Does it make any difference?
are you serious???? thats a good effort on his part...why criticize it....not all of us can afford to pay 2k+ for a custom install you know
yeah it should make a difference... you said your box was smaller in volume than the specified so if you fill it with something like poly-fil it can be used to effectively "trick" the sub to thinking it's inside a bigger box... Maybe hit up a JB hifi or Autobarn and find out if they sell it.
