Hi guys. Back again lol. So I installed another series 2 ptu to what I thought was a stuffed ptu. Drove nicely for 2 weeks then bam. Issues back except worse. It stalled twice this morning and noticed a really bad fuel smell in the car while driving. Pulled over while it was running on 5cy or 4 it seams and looked behind the car and there was a heap of fuel spitting out from the right side of the exhaust. So I checked the oil and had a strong smell of fuel. Only did a oil change 400km ago. So now is the question if its an Injector getting stuck and flooding the a cyl or 2 for it to miss so bad? Only reason I can think of as to why the oil has fuel in it and the fuel spitting out of the exhaust. Only when its missing. Like there was alot on the ground aswell. Can the ptu wiring casue this issue at all? Cheers

I see a plenum pull in your future......

It may be dud injectors but my money is on injector O rings

It might be a combination of both...... 20 yr old injectors are probably ready for the bin anyway

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think your right on that one. Dont think the injectors have been replaced. Its weired how it only usually happens while on the throttle. But the last 2 days its been while on cold start and most the way to work. But then I drive like a granny and it comes good again. Then ill give it abit then starts missing very bad.

    Think about it....

Unlikely to be fuel spitting out the exhaust if the engine is running.
Run a cylinder balance test & identify which cylinder or cylinders are at fault.
    Test the fuel pressure.
    Test the injectors.
    Test the ignition.
    Test the O2 sensors.
    Check the catalytic converters.

    Something is amiss here?

Its unusual for fuel to get into the oil (but possible I guess)

As for the fuel coming out of the back of the exhaust - Maybe its just water vapour that smells like fuel?

I can only assume your suggesting that the fuel is that bad its flowing past the rings and then out the back of the exhaust - would lead me to think you need a compression test but:

I suggest you follow East Coasts advice first - his suggestions on testing will give you a further insight

I took the zed to my mechanic and found that 1 injector is stuffed. Not bad for 20yr old injectors lol. Thanks for the help guys. Also would anyone know who would do a plenum pulls? If so how much. Cheers

fuel in oil, yes I'll had that, turned out to be a stuffed Fuel pressure regulator flooding the engine & bypassing to the sump, which lead to the rear seal leaking from the fuel in the oil. I added Oil Stop leak which fixed that & still today no leaks.

Oh true. Ill have to check that out aswell. Mite as well replace it. Get a adjustable one and new Injectors and get it retuned.

Just saw this post. If it helps in your diagnostics the injectors were cleaned and all rubbers replaced at some point when I owned the car. But that would be going back 6 years or so now (130000k's?).

I had same thing a few weeks ago now have my 740cc injectors and more boost in and is going much better. If need replacing better to upgrade at same time.
