To allow the importation of 1999/2000 zeds should the rules change the things cost a ton on money now anyway!! For a mint TT manual your not going to see much change from 40K and thats just for the car then you have shipping aswell...

Link 1999 Turbo Manual 2+2 with Recaros 35,000 Km 3,590,000 JPY (AUD 39,240 according to xe.com)

This I would imagine is close to the holy grail for many: Link its a 1999 two seat hard top with TT engine 5 speed manual 46,000 km its 2,690,000 JPY (AUD 29,400)

For those who say 1999 is too old, want a 2000 or bust, heres one: Link 2000 model Turbo Manual 59,000 km Targa 2+2 (being sold by a nissan dealer, so you can bet its in top condition, got my V35 from Nissan Fukuoka and its mint) price on this car is 2,648,000 JPY (AUD 28,944)

2000 NA's far more common and far cheaper (10-15 K AUD) there are TT's at this price point but expect the Km to be higher (150,000 - 200,000) for example this TT hardtop 2 seater 5 speed manual has 198,000 km on it its JPY 1,290,000 (AUD 14,000) Link

This isnt my car but its the same year and colour so quite similar, my zed replacement (its a Z33 2+2 Hardtop NA Tiptronic 5 speed Auto, AKA V35 Coupe Series 3) Link

Look like later year zed's are becoming collectors cars, the earlier ones 1990-1996 in great conditions low km flat out being 10K AUD.. before I sign off here's one for the convertible guys (not that there many of you)

Link its a 1994 1 owner NA Auto (of course) 20,000 km, I love the interior! 1,890,000 JPY (AUD 20,600) and unlike all the zeds above can actually be imported here. How sweet this car would be with a TT 5 Speed, Brembo's and a wide body kit...

The zed itself in complete, cared for factory condition is a collector item.

2k zeds will naturally sell for more because they are 10years younger!
$10000 is actually a good price for a car sold at $80-90000 25years later.
The 300 is a very limited market and isolated because so many "import scene" people bad mouth them ignorantly and just don't know better.

is there actually talk of the rules changing or is it all just hopes and dreams that they "might change one day"

ive heard nothing on the grapevine about potential rule changes is all......always assumed because of these rules 2k spec wasnt gonna happen for australia......unless pricate import like sims was originally

Well if you look at the latest REVS list if i remember right it was only up too 1996, now it appears up too 1998 is accepted, so if the rules change again i would presume the 1999-2000 models should be allowed.

    No inside info

No talk of rule changes but if they did 2000
Spec now pricey, that's the point I'm trying to make.

    Not going to happen.....

due to lack of passenger airbag

12/1997 is currently the last build date you can compliance. The passenger side airbag is not the sole limiting issue (2000 model Nissan Pulsar has only drivers side), it's the lack of the crash test data required after this date to satisfy ADR. Unless this data exists at Nissan Japan, can be obtained and provided the results satisfies the Australian Authorities then the only way you will ever import and compliance a later model is by personal import which is owning one in the country of origin for over 12 months.

not THAT pricey really though for what you're getting.

A good 2000 Z32 TT shits on an early.....or any 350Z, and already has collectors status if mint.

It's going to be a looooooooong time for that to happen to a 350/370. Those are the $10K cars of the VERY VERY near future.

If the rules did change, and you had the cash, I'd be buying a mint 2K spec, and putting it in the garage under a cover, and giving it a ferrari-like life style for the next 10 years.

    You wont loose much.

The thing is you see, "cost" is never really about "buy price". The 2 are VERY different beasts.

It's taken me 40 long bloody years to finally see that lol.

    For example.....

The "buy price" on my 2008 350Z Roadster was $47K.

The "cost" was about $18,000 + running costs (after 2 to 3 years)

The buy price (auction) on my 300C was $23600.
The "cost" will probably end up being ~$6000 (after 2 to 3 years)

The alfa GTV I just got for $3K shouldn't "cost" me anything ;)

If......instead of buying the "sensible" 350Z, I'd have instead purchased a Testarossa for ~$85K (at the time), the "cost" by now would be ~ - (minus) $65000 (fark I must stop reminding myself of that fact)

ie, I'd have MADE $65000 .....from owning my dream car. I'd have MADE money.
