So my zed has a new alarm system..well it's been a while now. But it seems that I need to drive the zed every single day to prevent the battery being drained from the alarm Has anyone else had this issue? But most importantly how did you overcome it? Is there a particular battery that you are running that is better? I currently have a Bond Ultimate in the zed.. Any help would be appreciated, stuck at home again till Craig finishes work...
Shouldn't need a daily drive to keep the battery from draining. Your battery could be stuffed. I went with a Optima Yellow Top battery. I can leave the lights on for over an hour and still start the car. Good for a few weeks without a start too. I have an alarm and it doesn't bother it. Alternatively, get someone to check the load on your alternator. There might be something drawing too much power so your battery isn't being charged enough. Cheers.
http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=307179 I think with your battery being over 4 years old with a bit of fluid leaking out of some cracks now, its times for a new battery. That and setup a trickle charger as explained in the thread above. You could use one of those startup reserve batteries but everytime it got to that stage it would compromise your security and set off the battery backup siren. Cheers, Craig
Ahh..yes we have already been using something similar to this.. A new shiny one it is then...I was just worried as Kr4usy said he had similar issues with his alarm system..and even replacing with a brand new battery it didn't fix it...let's just hope that's all the zed needs...otherwise guess I'll just have to do this trickle-charger thing..
I need to drive mine every 2nd day or alarm drains battery, even then sometimes on the second day if the car doesnt start right away the battery drains. No idea how old my battery is though.
New battery in, got a 600cca Advanced Bond Ultimate on special for $145 from the Bond outlet...should have heard her start, it normally takes a couple of turns over a second or so to start...this was turn key VROOOOMMMM!! Almost instant start I'd say the 4yr old battery was the main perpetrator but might look into a trickle charger setup soon to keep her in top nick...something so you just drive the Z in, hop out and plug her in and just leave it. So no messing around setting up the normal charger, pulling the battery out / disconnecting it while charging it in car or even have to pop the bonnet. Cheers, Craig
That's how mine works. Has a plug (with fuse) wired directly to the battery. Pull up, pop bonnet, plug in, close bonnet. Easy.
my car sat for a month when i went on holz. and it still started first go, did not disconnect anything from the engine bay. just a healthy battery and make sure everything is working properly.
