Fan timer or no fan timer?

Hello I have a thought. Usually my car runs at between 70 - 85 c which yes i know is very low and i should check it out.. however today i noticed (only because i stopped and started again to get fuel) that with the A/C on it will creap up to the 85 - 90 mark but then when i stopped the car at the servo and got back in the car the temp was at 110ish or there abouts, obviously cause there was no air rushing past the condenser and radiator, so my thought is should i work out some sort of timer so that the aux fan will stay on for another 30 - 60 seconds after turn the car off? or could there be some other underlying problem that i should look at first? (aside from the running at 70 - 85 mark? also its not just the gauge, as i thought it might have been when i first got the car, so i checked it with ecutalk and it said the same temp.

That would be heat soak, no real biggie, as soon as the car is started again fan will bring the temps straight back down.
If it doesn't then you may have a problem lol,
My thermo is set to come on at 180 (82'c) and the car normally sits just below that with everyday motoring, On the highway in winter im lucky if it goes much past 160,
If i give it a hard time in very warm weather through the twisties ill get temps up around 200 untill i back off.
so i dont think you got too much to worry about

Sounds to me like you have a cooling system issue given those two temps. I would look at the thermostat or cooling system flow.

How so Eric? I'd say my temps were fine 80-85'C all day everyday and aound 92ish when it cops a flogging on 30 degree days

Everything in my cooling system is brand new, Dont forget i have a 3000cfm thermo not a 7000cfm clutch fan so my temps are going to fluctuate slightly with the fan coming on an off.. And with my winter highway temp, a bit more info for you would make sense, i have a nismo thermostat so when its 6 degrees at 3am and i leave work it takes alot longer getting to operating temps with the colder ambient temp, Daily driving it sits about 78-80 thermo comes on at 82 then goes off again, If im boosting a bit it stays between 80-85, on a hot summer day if im flogging it through the twisties it gets to about 92-93 and stays there untill i slow down and the thermo brings temp back to around 80ish...

considering i have a thermo setup i think my temps are perfectly fine and within range

That's because 160F is only 71C, and that's cool enough to reduce combustion efficiency and also promotes wear on components.

Ok, knowing a bit more about your cooling system, that is exactly how I would expect a nismo low temp t/stat and thermo to work.

Now, if it was my choice, I would fit a stock t/stat and new clutch fan. That would see your temps between 82-88 in all conditions. Your high temps are just ok imho, but your low temps are way too cold for my liking.

Agreed but i prefer the work space in the engine bay lol,
my thermo setup works pretty good, i never overheat when giving it a hard time and it brings the temps down fine,
only down side i have is very cold winter nights leaving work it takes longer to warm up,
but hey wats that like 2 months of the year here in SE QLD, so i can live with that,
i dont even have my alloy undertray fitted yet either

ok so being as how my thread asking a question has basically been turned into a thread about someone elses car issues as opposed to mine, im just going to do it anyway, perhaps use an old turbo timer that i have laying around somewhere so that i can set the time easy aswell.

The temp is only rising because there is no coolant flow with the engine switched off. It is perfectly normal operation. The only way to prevent the temp rising is to fit an electric water pump to circulate the water with out the engine running.

Running the fan will do nothing but cool the water in the radiator, the water in the engine will still go up in temp.

If you wavy to cool it down after shutdown you really need electronic water pump as well ad thermo fan

"If it is a TT" Turn ac off when you stop and let a turbo timer turn the engine off if you have one fitted."Check", The slow & high speed fan should come on about 95deg.low speed & 100deg.high speed also the fan clutch may be slipping [stuffed] I DO THINK YOUR COOLING SYSTEM HAS A PROBLEM !
