Hi, I think this is all related to me having a stupid moment and using a screwdriver to leverage out the overhead inside light and as a result some sparks flew. Totally derped out, wasn't thinking. Stupid mistake. I have noticed now that my reader lights don't work. My clock doesn't hold time and pulses when on. My doors open light also is always on and pulses. My sound system head unit also doesn't work and my alarm is now having the blinkers blink more times than normal, normally once when unlocking and twice when locking now it is more like five blinks for either. Although the alarm doesn't go off. Are all these likely from blown fuses? If so where do I find the ones I should replace? Are all these systems on the same fuse? Or could I have done something worse than just a blown fuse? All seemed to come at once straight after that stupid screwdriver experience so I am thinking it is related.
google or look up in the tech section the fuse guide. you know the fuses are in the drivers side footwell right? all other engine related fuses are under the bonnet. check the fuses are all ok (take them out and check or sometimes you can smell them) other than that, I have no other advice. other than be careful next time.
If a fuse is blown, anything on that circuit will not work. Where something might be 'pulsing' or intermittent operation, a loose or bad connection could be the cause.
See this translation of the cabin fuse block in the drivers footwell side (kick panel). Translation is in the Tech section here Replace the fuse and you may possible need to clean up the fuse contacts also. MichaelZ
All related to one blown fuse in the kick panel. Even the pulsing which seems weird, I would assume if a fuse is blown its wouldn't work at all. Thanks heaps.
Yes, you would think a fuse blows and that shuts down that circuit. I have read that weird 'ghost in the machine' symptoms appear in the Zed when a fuse blows. The electronic engineer must have forgotten to put a diode somewhere in his design :zlove:
Interesting..... Glad you sorted it out. Which fuse was it that was blown? Would be interested to see what is on that circuit!
Not sure, would assume so, was all in Jap. The interior lights didn't work and the central locking didn't either so I would assume that that would be the one.
The 10 amp fuse you replaced protects the following circuits: Warning Chime Automatic Transmission Control Unit Radio Air Conditioning Auto Amp Clock Footlights Key Hole Light Power Door Lock System Theft Warning Control Unit Instrument Cluster (Security Ind) Hicas Control Unit The above are YELLOW wired. Also RED & BLACK tracer wired. Dome Light Power Antenna Timer The fuse blew because there has been excessive current draw related to one or more of these components. Replacing the fuse may not necessarily have "fixed" the problem.
