hey all. i'm having some issues getting the egr nut out of the exhaust manifold. the issue is that the last person that had the car has stripped the nut and i can't get anything in there to get on the nut. i have tried sockets, spanner, multi grips and vice grips, but there is not enough room to get a good grip on it. i have soaked it in rust loosen-er but still can't get the sucker out.

    any ideas.

What about a nut splitter? Crack it into sections, the pull out.

Other option would be to cut the pipe, crimp the pipe then braze it shut.

will have to get it welded or brazed in situ then

Drill a small hole in the side and try to tap it out with a hammer and a screw driver... If you have access for drill?

Trim the pipe flush, it's the perfect size for 3/8 BSPT tap and plug:cool:

    the thread idea

would work great if the turbo was running. but mine isn't. so after 4 hours of working in the car and getting a m10 tap in there to thread the hole. on the way to work. pop, out it came. cause the turbo isn't running. the air can't be moved out of the system fast enough. and it just builds pressure and bang. DO'H and now time to bit the bullet.
