    Hi guys,

Thought I'd share a lucky experience on the way home tonight. Was just driving along normally and heard some beeping.. looked down at my ECUTalk, temperature was at 95 degrees and climbing rapidly

I managed to pull over into a service lane just as it hit 100. Popped the bonnet, lower radiator hose not attached  Put it back on, tightened the worm clamp as much as I could and used a nearby tap to fill my water bottle. System took on about 7 litres!!

All the while the stock gauge hadn't budged.. After bleeding the system temps were back to a normal 80 degrees and on my way I went.

Even though I have an aftermarket gauge I doubt I'd have realised it was overheating until it was too late. Thank goodness for ECUTalk alerts :)

    Cheers,

    Martin

Yep, some sort of temp warning system is a great investment for any car, even if the gauge worked how often would you check it?

Nice to hear of a Z avoiding total failure for a change!

Yep. I never drive the zed without EcuTalk active. It will be a life saver one day.

zed cooling system takes 10L, spose that means you were to down to 3L in the system. lucky escape indeed.

The TWD (Temperature warning devise) is another excellent idea.

Glad you caught it in time. It's a great feeling when you can prevent a catastrophic failure from happening such as this. Trust me I had the same issue as you with the bottom radiator hose and that's how I cooked the 1st engine. NEVER AGAIN!!
