dr300zx wont connect to ecu?

i just got a serial cable connected to the nissan consult adapter, but it wont connect? help please? is it cause i'm running windows 8?

 

Can you connect using any programs or just this one program?

Have you let windows install the serial/usb drivers? Often you have to go into the device manager and let the '!' items install a driver before it will work.

 

it says it's installed and up to date, but it wont connect... and this is the only program i can try it with, conzult gives me an error...

 

i'm sitting in the car with the laptop right now, tell me what i can try

 

If the others give an error and dr300zx Wong connect I think there is another issue. A couple have virtual setups to test the install of the program and some also need you to manually set the com port

 

Have you tried it with the ignition on ?

 

okay so i just downloaded the free version of conzult and the program works but still wont connect :/

 

it says "unable to open com port"

 

I suspect you need to set your com port. Easiest way is to jump online or see if one if the tech savy can take a call. I would but my lunch just ended may be able to help tonight if needed pm meafter 6 if not sorted and give me a contact number

 

im pretty good with computers so just tell me what i should set it to and it's done

 

You need to go into device manager and check what com port is being used then go to the programs settings and set the comport to match what windows has designated. That's assuming this is the issue and you have not got a dodgy consult adapter that is doa. This also happens

 

This is all assuming you are using a serial consult adapta even if it has a serial to usb unit if it is full usb i have not used one so I am unsure if it also needs this set up
