I'm taking my gunmetal slicktop over the pits tomorrow morning but there is still one very annoying problem. There is a frequent but intermittent relay clicking sound coming from behind the passengers seat, everytime this relay clicks the "door open" light flashes

I've checked the doors and hatch are all closed properly and it's been doing it for a while. If there an easy way to fix this problem or at least disable it so it doesn't get noticed at tomorrows inspection?

I don't have much time and I'm not very mobile at the moment

Probably just pull the relay. Bit of mucking about getting to it though.

    Take some chassis measurements...
That clicking sound is the 'door closed' switch, hence why its activating the door open light. I had this problem, the passenger door was pushing up against it and the slightest bump in the road would set it off.

its clicking because the switch isnt going all the way in when the door is closed.

a new switch normally solves it (i just use bonnet switches to replace it)

if you want to keep your original switch space the back of the switch out with some normal ring spacers. or for a very easy fix, put a screw on the switch to extend the pushing arm thing. (will damage your paint and wont look as good but it is the best thing to do les replacing the switch)

or it might be something like water inside the switch, just pull the switch out and put some CRC or something waterproof on it.

    Try p5yk3r and antons's suggestions

or as a faster fix, you can remove the fuse in the drivers footwell.

Last resort is pulling the relay plug off (I say last resort cause the relay itself is pretty foolproof- it either works or doesn't. It will be one of your door switches short circuiting to earth causing the relay to trigger):

    • The interior light relay in a 2+2 is behind the passenger rear quarter panel next to the rear seat. Once off you'll see a metal structure with an ECU like box inside (fuel pump control unit) and a blue relay attached to it. Thats the interior light relay.
    • The interior light relay in a 2 seater is under the passenger side cover next to the parcel shelf. This can be popped off (from memory) without removing any other panels by levering up with a screwdriver carefully. From there you'll see the bl
    ue relay.

some times the d clamp thing the door clips to slides outward and so when the door is shut its not fully pushing the button down. 2 screws and you can slide that clamp inward like 2-3mm and it then holds the button down,

    worked for me

What ever's the solution, you'll need to deactivate that warning light else, you can't even get a RWC here in QLD with any dash warning light activated. Suspect it will be similar all over, and worse if going over the pits.
The Relay itself is located under the FPCU in a 2+2 and sits on one of those thin metal brackets. In a 2+0, Not sure how to get to ity. In the 2+2 it's a 5 minute job to access it.

I'd be checking your hatch first of all as that seems to be the most problematic for the "door open" light. Doors are easy to check as all you need to do is press the round black grommet-looking rubber switches when the door is open. Try pressing down on your hatch when the light comes on and see if it makes a difference. Mine needed the lock to be readjusted, it is easily done by removing the rear centre trim and loosening the 12mm nuts attached to the locking mechanism is moved either up or down until it locks and the light goes away.
